When does this game take place? it was after Best of Both Worlds. It was before First Contact. I don't think it happened during Decnt.

By Nick Angeloni (Nangeloni) on Sunday, June 27, 1999 - 1:13 am:

I haven't played this game before, but I have the ad on the First Contact video I own. The pre-2371 communicators are used, but the post-2372 phasers and tricorders are used. So its pretty confusing trying to figure out the timeframe.

By Dan R. on Sunday, June 27, 1999 - 8:29 am:

The part where you start the game (where Q lets you decide whether to go back and save your father) is 10 years after Wolf 359...the part of the game where you play for the most part (working with your father, etc.) happens during Best of Both Worlds.

By Tom B. on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 - 5:15 pm:

It can't be during First Contact because they don't have grey unifoms

By Nathan K. on Sunday, August 01, 1999 - 11:45 am:

It is true that the uniforms are wrong. They use the DS9 uniforms in this game. They're too old for the 10 years in the future part and too new for the Wolf 359 sequence. (But why nitpick?)

By Tom B. on Saturday, August 07, 1999 - 6:53 pm:

I just thought it was odd.

By Chris Thomas on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 - 8:28 am:

Confession first: I'm not much of a gamer, so surprise, surprise, I'm stuck early on. I'm on the bridge during the attack of Wolf 359 and a Borg appears: I can either shoot him or the officer it's attacking. But no matter what I do, Q says "Oh my God, we're all going to die" and the ship explodes. Should I have done something different prior to this event?

By Dan R. on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 - 12:23 pm:

which officer is it attacking? The woman? What did you try? Shooting her or the borg? Either one is wrong. Shoot the console behind the borg.

By Chris Thomas on Wednesday, December 29, 1999 - 11:45 pm:

Ah! The console - I'll give it a go.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, December 30, 1999 - 3:40 pm:

Well, on DS9, we saw them phase in the grey uniforms and phase out the old. Sisko and some of the command staff was wearing the new style, while about half the extras wore the old style. Several episodes later, everyone was wearing the new design.

Did anyone have problems getting this game to run? I've tried running it on two different computers, one with Win 95 and one with Win 98. In both cases it quits right away because the game thinks I don't have Windows 95! If anyone can help, please let me know what I have to do to this game to get it to work!

By Benjamin Daniel Cohen (Bcohen) on Monday, July 24, 2000 - 4:03 pm:

D.W., I had the exact same problem. Try downloading the borg patch here.

By D.W. March on Monday, July 24, 2000 - 5:59 pm:

Thanks! I'll let you know how it works out.

By D.W. March on Sunday, September 03, 2000 - 11:51 pm:

Okay, I've finally got the game up and running. Everything seems to work just fine. The only problem I'm having is trying to figure out the controls. Is there any place online where I can download some info about this? I bought the game secondhand, so it didn't come with a manual.

By MarkN on Monday, September 04, 2000 - 12:53 am:

Why do patches have to be made for the games, anyway? Why don't the game creators ever work all of the bugs out before putting the games on the market? Sure, they wanna hurry the games out there to sell, but I'd rather they take an extra week or month or whatever to fix the game first. I just got System Shock 2 this weekend and it's already got a patch on it, but then it's probably just an updated version, too.

By Jason of Borg on Monday, September 04, 2000 - 1:04 am:

D.W. March, the controls for Borg are as follows...

To access the tricorder, click the mouse while the movie is playing. You will get a rotating tricorder icon. If you move the icon over something that can be scanned, the icon will stop spinning. Click the mouse to scan the object. To continue the movie, double-click the mouse.

When the movie gets to a decision point, the borg cube icon will appear. To activate something, click on it. For example, and early point has you holding a tricorder in one hand and a phaser in the other. You must click on the object that you want to use. Or you can not click on anything and see if that is the correct choice.

I think these are the correct instructions. My copy is packed away somewhere so I am doing this from memory.

I found another nit in this game. If you don't make the right choice while scurrying through the Jefferies tubes with your dad, you end up being assimilated by that really ugly Borg. The problem with that is this: he assimilates you right there in the Jefferies tube. Now this part of the game is set before BOBW and thus before Picard's assimilation. But we got to see the Captain being assmilated in great detail, in both BOBW and First Contact. This was all done in an assimilation chamber on the Borg ship. Did 3rd of 4 build an assimilation chamber right there?
Also, all the Borg in this game seem to have energy weapons. This has never been seen on the show, except for those wacky Borg in Descent.
Oh, and I'm also stuck again. I'm on the Borg ship and I have to punch in a code. Before I can do it some aggressive Borg come along and blow me and my away team into space.

By Jason on Friday, September 22, 2000 - 1:22 pm:

Here's what you do. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO FIND OUT HOW TO SOLVE THIS PUZZLE, DO NOT READ THIS POST!!!! You have been warned!

When you first beam onto the cube, two borg soon wander by (one of them is Q). Shoot one of the borg. You will soon be assimilated, and you will download the code before being killed by your unassimilated friends. You will restart at the beam-in point.

By D.W. March on Friday, September 22, 2000 - 6:07 pm:

I don't mind spoilers... I don't think I'd have ever thought of that one on my own. Thank you!

By Jason on Sunday, September 24, 2000 - 11:29 am:

Well, Q does give you a little hint. He tells you that you have to learn to think like a borg and to strike first.

By Meg on Sunday, July 01, 2001 - 6:13 pm:

SPOILER

It has been awhile since I played the game

My favorite part of this game is when you mess up and Try to inject the Borg Q with some sort techobabbly stuff.

he then tells you that you should have read the tricorder and that the stuff doesn't work on him.

All the music stops and the people walk off the set like you blew your line or something. Q looks back at you and give you another chance.

I at least think thats how the sequence goes.

Yep, that's it. I love that one, too.
