Got to love the intro in this game. The timberwolf and Summoner clan mechs pair up perfectly.

Game points, the graphics are a little sparse but perfectly reasonable. Though I much prefer this to Microsofts later Mechwarrior 4, the MW4 game got the pulse lasers correct. Standard lasers fire for as long as the trigger is pulled (and your heat sinks can take it), whereas pulse lasers fire in bursts rather than a continuous beam.

The mech lab is extrememely detailed and very true to the game, but can be a bit daunting to those that don't know the boardgame. I've heard a rumour that it isn't possible to make some of the alternative Omnimech configurations even if you have all the parts and the tech readouts from the board game in front of you. Nice to know they used the Eridani Light Horse merc unit, an established part of the game history.
Most of my nitpicks are as a Battletech game player. Why do the Smoke Jaguars use such a lot of Inner Sphere mechs when they should have Omnis and second line Clan mechs.
Unfortunately, the last few times I played this some time ago in skirmish or LAN it kept locking up. Now I don't know if there was an incompatibility issue with my sound card or video card but the normal campaign seemed to play fine.
