This could be retitled The Planet Of Dr. Moreau.

Justin says about the Galactic War, "That war was a terrible mistake." Yes, the Andromedeans only wanted to take over and kill most of humanity.

It's also said that the planet was reactivated 6 years before the Galactic War, but in Star One Travis was the only Human who seemed to know about the Andromedeans plans & the eventual attack caught the Federation by surprise.

Earlier Vila said that you can drown in that muck, and a shot showed the stuff to be a liquid, but when he comes up his uniform is smudged in spots, not soaked through.

Overly simplistic on the whole love/hate emotions side of story. (Hmmm, Dayna loved Justin & Servalan reversed those emotions to hate. However if all of Dayna's emotions were reversed would that make her love Servalan? ;-) Sounds like the plot of a Blakes 7 fanfic.)

When Avon & Tarrant break into Justin's lab Paul Darrow seems to slip & catch himself.

Servalan wants to know when Og can be cloned. Excuse me? In Weapon it was revealed that the Clonemasters kept that secret to themselves. In Children Of Auron it was mentioned that the Clonemasters were killed in the Galactic War & the Aurons were the only other group that could clone people. And since Servalan virtually wiped out the Auronon it seems unlikely that the remaining 2 would give up that secret.

Servalan's ship takes off, Avon & co. are next to it, but all that seems to happen is Avon's hair gets blown around.

Why does Servalan/Jaqueline Pearce get second billing? Shouldn't her name come 7th or 8th in the credits?

Dayna is pushed head first off a small cliff by Og and is found unconscious by Federation guards. In the next scene she is being interrogated by Servalan and does'nt have a scratch on her! That fall would have broken anyones neck.

I presume Dayna managed to flip during her fall. I see the mutoids featured don't the normal black rubber head pieces. Instead they have very 1980s style hairdos, Tracy Ullman used to have her hair just like that. I did read this story was written to have Cally as the main character, but was changed when Jan Chappell didn't come back. Hence in not being too different to The Web.

Someone reads a report to Servalan, but prefaces it with a comment that it's out of date, from before the Galactic War. However the report contains the phrases 'six years before the War' and 'during the War.' So if it's from before the War, how can it refer to the War? It's like that proverbial coin with the 'B.C.' stamp.

In fact, a more general nit, there are lots of references in this episode and others about 'during the War,' 'toward the end of the War,' etc, but it always seemed that the War was only a very short deal.

And another recurring nit, but how can nobody recognise the former Supreme Commander and President of the Federation?

And another complex that's just a door.

Peter Byrne was terribly miscast and far too old for the role. The character ended up having a “creepy paedo” vibe that wasn’t in the script.
