Which had better games?

SNES had better graphics and sound than the Genesis, while the Genesis appeared to have smoother animation and a faster processing speed. Sports games generally played better on the Genesis (e.g. EA's Madden NFL, NBA Live, and NHL games). Most other games generally played better on the SNES. One area in which the Genesis gained the upper hand on the SNES, which had nothing to do with hardware/software capabilities was in the area of "mature" or violent/gory games. The line of demarcation was drawn with the simultaneous release of Mortal Kombat for both systems. The SNES version had better graphics and sound, but the arcade blood was replaced by sweat. The Genesis version kept in the arcade blood. More gamers prefered the blood. SNES made it clear with its version of Mortal Kombat that the Nintendo was virtually unwilling to release "mature" rated games, while Sega had no problem with this.
