By Mike Ram on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 6:06 pm:

I for one can't wait for Perfect Dark and Zelda 6 for the N64.

I am also anxious to see how Metal Gear Solid will be like when it is ported to the PC. If it's good then I just might buy it...

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Saturday, July 10, 1999 - 6:17 pm:

I'm holding out for Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64. And I will buy anything that has Zelda on it!

By Matt Pesti on Sunday, July 11, 1999 - 6:24 pm:

Zelda 6 !
Why? every Zelda game is a remake of the last one. I mean i've beaten them all but 2. And I think they are great. But too many changes go on throughout the series. But then again they do make Zelda games in pairs.

By Ganondorf on Sunday, July 11, 1999 - 10:19 pm:

When did they make Zelda games in pairs?
One thing about Zelda 6 is that they have to bring back the classic Zelda music.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Sunday, July 11, 1999 - 10:30 pm:

I think he means that pairs of Zelda games have more to do with each other than any of the others. 1&2 would be a pair, 3&4 would be another, and presumably 5&6 would be another. All the reports I've heard suggest that 6 will be a sequel/side story to 5.

By Matt Pesti on Monday, July 12, 1999 - 11:19 am:

Yes.
They made the ledgend of zelda then the sequal the adventures of Link. Then they waited to do LTP and did Links awaking as a sequal. then they waited a couple more years to realease this time frames zelda.

By Mike Ram on Tuesday, July 13, 1999 - 11:22 pm:

I heard a game called "Jet Force Gemini" is coming out for the 64. I wonder if that will be cool too.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Tuesday, July 13, 1999 - 11:44 pm:

That one's supposed to be bizarre, but cool, just like Rare's other games. I'll dig out my copy of this month's EGM and tell you more.

By Matt Pesti on Wednesday, July 14, 1999 - 9:27 pm:

For anyone in the Cleveland Area

At the computer store in Westgate by the food court they are selling Link action Figures for 99 cents. Take advantage of their ignorance.

By Princess Nadia on Sunday, July 25, 1999 - 12:33 pm:

I just found out about Crono Cross and Legend Of Mana. They look awesome but they do not have the same characters as in previous games...

By Mike Ram on Thursday, August 19, 1999 - 10:43 pm:

I'm not sure about Zelda 64, Part 2 anymore. Everything I've read and seen at www.videogames.com has let me down. Check it out and let me know what you think.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Friday, August 20, 1999 - 5:46 am:

I've liked whatever I've seen. I think it's great that they'll be using the Expansion Pak to put more enemies on the screen at the same time. That was really my only complaint with the game. Rememberin the original Zelda where every screen would have like six or eight guys on it?

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it's supposed to be like Link's Awakening was to A Link to the Past. Takes place a few years after he is returned to a child and somebody kidnaps Epona, o he goes to the alternate universe where the horsenapper lives to get her back. Or some junk.

By Mike Ram on Friday, August 20, 1999 - 1:35 pm:

MPatterson, SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!!!

Here's the real deal: A few months after Part 1, A strange man in a hat comes into the forest and tells link that he has Epona. He opens a gateway into another world where the moon if falling from the sky, and now the only one who can save them is young Link.

This sounds like what happened to Capt. Sisko in "Shattered Mirror" where the rebels kidnap Jake so he will help them in their fight. Except they weren't afraid the wormhole was going to fall on them...

So now we have to buy an expansion pak to enjoy this game?!?

Also, I really think they should still have the Princess and all the characters from the first game. As "Princess Nadia" said above, I think these characters should at least have guest roles in the game.

Finally, did you see the screenshot of the man in the hat? Ugh.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Friday, August 20, 1999 - 3:32 pm:

I looked at the same plot summary that you did, but I don't really like to provide full spoilers even with a Spoiler Alert. I don't see a problem with the required expansion pak either. It is a good idea to have one, and Rare is requiring it to be used with Donkey Kong. I bet that either the prices will drop or that the game will come bundled with one, like Starfox did with the Rumble Pak.

What I am concerned about are the rumors of six new Game Boy Zelda games coming out. This will cheapen the franchise. I don't want a new one coming out every month. These things have to be savored.

By Mike Ram on Friday, August 20, 1999 - 6:41 pm:

That wasn't a full spoiler, that was a brief plot summary. Also, I highly doubt Zelda Gaiden will be bundled with an expansion pak. I hope it will though.

By Ed Jefferson (Ejefferson) on Monday, September 20, 1999 - 2:45 pm:

The great PC RPG Baldur's Gate is rumored to be coming out on the PSX and the DC.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Monday, September 20, 1999 - 3:57 pm:

I've heard about that. What I'm amazed about is that there are PC RPG's at all, given that:

RPG's are a niche market and generally (except for Final Fantasy thanks to those **** ads) don't make up much of a fraction of total game sales.

PC games sell much, much worse than console games. The best-selling game of 1999, to date, sold about 500,000 copies from January to September. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time sold 1.3 million units from Thanksgiving to New Year's.

Put these together, and you get minuscule sales for PC RPGs. But anything's possible (and it probably would be a lot easier to control with a keyboard and mouse than with a gamepad, although Super Mario RPG was handled well.)

Does anyone know if the strategy-rpg Ogre Battle 64 is going to come to the States? I've heard yes, no, maybe, Dolphin… who's right?

By Ed Jefferson (Ejefferson) on Tuesday, September 21, 1999 - 3:44 am:

Baldur's Gate was No 1 in the chart here in the UK for some weeks, and even the add on pack got to number 3.

By B.F. on Thursday, September 30, 1999 - 4:48 pm:

Can anyone tell me if N64 is planning on releasing any Star Trek games in the future? That new Star Trek Armada (for computer) would do well on a console like N64, IMHO. It seems like they had quite a few in the early days of Nintendo. My special favorite is the Star Trek: 25th Anniversary for Game Boy and the ol' Nintendo console.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Thursday, September 30, 1999 - 10:26 pm:

I don't think so. The trek game franchise seems to have moved over to the PC for the present. Seeing as how PCs can display better graphics than the current generation of consoles, this is probably good. Now that the Dreamcast, and later PSX2 and Dolphin are released, this will probably change. (In fact, Birth of the Federation will come out for the Dreamcast.)

By B.F. on Friday, October 01, 1999 - 10:02 am:

But how long will Dreamcast last? Is it doing well enough to keep producing games -- or will it become extinct? Just curious, because I haven't heard much about it since it's release....

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Friday, October 01, 1999 - 3:17 pm:

I think so. it has a large amount of games released already (15-20), and it's sold a half million copies already. I think that if they can deliver some more good titles, we can be ready for a flood of games. Look especially for arcade conversions, as the DC's hardware is excellent at that (in fact, it's better than the arcade machines.)

By Mike Ram on Sunday, May 07, 2000 - 6:41 pm:

Some cool new games coming soon:
Breath of Fire 4
Crono Cross
LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue (Complete)
Perfect Dark

By Dan R. on Monday, May 08, 2000 - 1:33 pm:

The World is Not Enough for N64 coming this Xmas season by EA. It looks to be just as good, if not better than Rare's Goldeneye...in TWINE, EA got the license to put all the characters likenesses in the game...this time Bond looks very much like Pierce, M looks like the woman who player her too...not only that, this game will have a ton of speaking parts by characters. Text will appear on the screen and you'll also hear them talk. It seems to be a pretty cool game based on the previews so far.

By Jeff Winters (Jeff1980) on Tuesday, August 01, 2023 - 11:10 am:

Anyone looking forward to
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
for the Nintendo Switch
