Vanishing Act

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Outer Limits: Season Two: Vanishing Act

A husband leaves to go to the store and doesn't return for ten years. Where has he been? And why? It happens to Trevor McPhee and his return is more than a little distressing for his wife, Theresa, especially since he insists he was in a car crash…only hours ago. Then, just after they reconcile, he vanishes again…for another decade. Trevor finds himself trapped between two worlds. One is a recurring nightmare of caves and predatory creatures; the other is the real world, ever-changing as civilization leaves him further and further behind. Is Trevor mad…or just reaching the Outer Limits?

A symbiotic life-form pertaining to a worm-like species had selected Trevor McPhee as a host that would allow the aliens to better understand Earth and its inhabitants. Being beyond the normal flow of time, they visit Earth through Trevor McPhee every ten years by teleporting him forward through time. Ultimately, though, the aliens are convinced of the error of their way, and they return Trevor McPhee to the time at which they initially abducted him.

Trevor McPhee left the seventies club after encountering his son inside the club. When he exits the building, though, both his wife and son park their car and approach Trevor McPhee.

Imagine jumping ten years every time you wake up. Poor guy.

At least the aliens were able to return him to is own time at the end, once they understood what ad happened.

Jon Cryer did a great job in this one, IMO.
