The Promised Land

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Outer Limits: Season Four: The Promised Land

Dlavan and his family are Tsal-Khan, offspring of the handful of aliens who remained on Earth after a bitter war of conquest with the human race. Today, they live on a tightly guarded farm where they must grow all their own food, since their forebears poisoned all the plants during the war with mankind. Most of the aliens believe that the human race was wiped out in the war, but there is a group of humans in the woods near the farm. This group is led by Rebecca, an escapee from the alien's robot-run camps, and includes David, Ruth, and the mute, orphaned child, Tali. They are desperately hungry and have seen their children die from eating poisoned fruit. So when they spot Dlavan's grandson Ma'al, wandering in the woods, they follow him home to the farm. After they see the well-fed aliens, Rebecca leads the group to raid the farm for food. At first, Tali figures out how to get around the farm's deadly defensive measures. But, things escalate and individuals are hurt and killed on both sides. When Rebecca captures an alien weapon and Tali is seriously injured, the scene is set for the final showdown, a battle that could destroy both groups. But, is this the only solution?

The grandfather and older brother aliens, as well as the humans Ruth and Caleb, are killed during the ultimate confrontation between the remnant humans and aliens. When the female leader storms in and backs the mother and youngest son aliens into a corner, preparing to slay them, she realizes how she has become as horrendous as the aliens who invaded the planet and enslaved the humans. After a truce is established between the two groups, the young human girl is resuscitated by an alien device and a promising future is within the two groups' grasp.

1) Apparently, even aliens take interest in cosmetics. The mother alien is conspicuously donning lipstick.
2) One of the aliens kept the female leader in aim. However, that alien took too long to fire again as the female leader was leaping over the fence and exceeding the gun's range.
3) The human who was impaled on the bed of spikes was claimed as being killed in cold blood. Technically, the human was not killed in cold blood, considering his being impaled is equivalent to being hit by a car after fleeing from a security guard--one who never shot you, might I add.
4) Why do the aliens don hoods during daytime?
5) The mother alien was expressing her gratitude to her youngest son for saving his brother. But was it not he who aimed and fired twice with the second instance resulting in his and the young human girl's incapacitation?

Staying somewhere your ancestors brutally conquered is NOT a good idea.
