Does it ever irk anyone but me when certain words like "religious" are applied to objects and not people?
It wasn't meant to be irksome, or even offensive, J. I was just being considerate towards anyone who likes religious or religion-based films when I created this board, as well as some of the others that I have, and will later on. That's all. Surely you can see that.
I apply it to people, Jwb. I would refer to you as "religious".
Which version of The Ten Commandments are you using? The 1923 edition or the 1956 edition? Of course, they're both by deMille.
Oh, and since NitCentral started out with Trek, you just have to put "King of Kings" (Jeffrey Hunter).
Also, there was "The Silver Chalice" (Paul Newman).
Thanks, Scott. I've now addressed that point there. And, as you can see, also added those two films now.
I was NOT meaning to say that I hated it, but it sometimes bothers me to see it used as an adjective to non humans.
Well, that is simply one application of the word. The most common definition is of or pertaining to religion. Examples: Religious instruction, religious schooling, religious artifact, religious doctrine. The second most common definition is the one you're referring to: pious.
Is there a board for "Life of Brian" or that movie with Dudley Moore as Moses's forgotten brother Herschel?
"Wholly Moses"
(Good Lord, it's frightening that I knew that off the top of my head)
Actually I thought Wholly Moses was a serious introduction to Judaism like Fiddler on the Roof.
How about Stigmata?
I liked it. I liked how they mentioned Padre Pio, and showed that photo of him as a young man. My parents visited the church in Pennsylvania that was built in tribute to him.
And that Patricia Arquette is da bomb!
