Okay.
Brian F:
We are still living in the age. Post Darwin doesn't refer to some theory about really well adapted animals having more offspring than poorly adapted animals. It refers to a number of intellectual movements inspired by Darwin's Arguments including Social Darwinism and the use of Darwin's theories to discredit the Bible. In fact, fundamentalism was an offshot of this, as it was developed out of concern that message of Christ would be lost in elaborate theories over the creation. We are very much Post Nietsche, as the man was the best prophet of the 20th century. Religion is dead, and Strong men will throw off morality and rule. Freud is everywhere and Marx is everywhere, despite the two being throughoutly discredited. So yes, the ideologies derived from the teachings of these men was very much alive in Europe at the time of the two world wars. You have to remember, European elites didn't like the rule of Victorian/Christian Morality any more than y'all do.

A reason I forgot last night.
Moral education must be handled by the church. We certianly don't want the government to do it. We shouldn't expect the schools to do it, they have other things to teach. That leaves the family and the church. Families should teach their children morality. And the Church should serve to reinforce that morality, and provide parents with the tools to teach their children. Now, once the children get out of the family, they still need moral education, because as we all know, the learning never stops. So, the church serves as the center of moral education in a free society. Now, some of you are going, "But should we indoctrinate people. SHouldn't we teach them to reason what is moral?" I would argue that that would be okay, if we were a society of philosphers. But, we really do not need people to think about morality. We just need people to do. Do we really need a trestie on why murder is wrong? Or can we get along with everyone of a less reflective nature saying "Murder bad."

(Note: Church should be defined as "Religious Institutions.")
