Duane Barry

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: XFiles: Season Two: Duane Barry
A man named Duane Barry, a former FBI agent, takes hostages in a travel agency. Mulder is sent in to talk to him, and ends up feeding his ideas of alien abduction. After being taken down by a sharpshooter, Barry escapes from his hospital room and kidnaps Scully, taking her to the place where he believes he was abducted.

This episode by far has the best cliffhanger I've ever seen. I loved the fact that all we see is Mulder's answering machine and can only hear what is happening to Scully.

In the Guide Phil asks if a flashlight is standard issue for special agents. Although agents, like many uniformed officers, are encouraged to get flighlights they are often not issued.

Phil also questions EMTs (or at least FBI agents disguised as such) wearing body armor and Barry not mentioning it or flipping out. EMTs wearing bullet-proof vests is not uncommon for situations like this; however they would likely be worn on the outside of the uniform shirt but it's understandable why they did here.

A couple times Phil mentioned the agents drilling the hole in the wall so they could feed a fiber-optic camera in the hostage room. For one thing the agents are using a hand drill for the job and they are trying to be as quiet as possible. Secondly we don't know if there's anything between the drywall that would cause difficulty.

NANJO - When Scully finds out Duane's true nature she races to the scene to tell the agent in charge (SAC) about him, basically anyway. When she gets there Scully compares Barry's condition to "a man named Gage." This person's full name is Phineas Gage and his story is practically psychology 101. I'd be surprised if these agents didn't know about it and am curious why Scully referred to him by just his surname when the full name may have jarred someone's memory.
