Eve

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: XFiles: Season One: Eve
Synopsis: Mulder and Scully investigate the murder of Joel Simmons, who was drained of blood while in his backyard. They interview his daughter, Teena, who speaks of men from the clouds who wanted to "exsanguinate" her father. Surprisingly, an identical murder happens miles away, the victim Doug Reardon. Cindy, the man's daughter, is identical to Teena Simmons. Teena disappears from the foster home she was put in, apparently kidnapped. Scully discovers that the mothers of both the children were patients at the same fertility clinic, and were supervised by the same doctor, Sally Kendrick. Kendrick was later fired for tampering with the fertilized ova. Deep Throat contacts Mulder and tells him about the Litchfield Project, which genetically bred children, named "Adam" and "Eve." Mulder and Scully locate Eve 6, who is in a asylum. Despite her condition, she is able to inform them that two more Eves are still alive, one of whom is Dr. Kendrick. Mulder realizes that Kendrick was continuing the Litchfield Project, and that Teena and Cindy are the results. Kendrick kidnaps Cindy, and introduces her to Teena. Kendrick believes that she can raise the Eves to not give in to their homicidal tendencies. But the girls reveal that they killed their own fathers, and that they poisoned Kendrick's drink, even as she clutches her throat and falls to the floor, dead. Mulder and Scully find the girls, who claim that Kendrick tried to kill them with poison, but they faked drinking it. Mulder and Scully start transporting them home, stopping at a fast food restaurant. The girls poison Mulder and Scully's drinks, but Mulder realizes in time, and captures the girls. The end of the episode shows a woman visting Eve 6 and the two girls in the asylum, and when she turns around, we see the face of the last Eve.

I love this episode!

It is established that both girls are very intelligent, (and with homicidal tendencies). In one scene, Mulder, after realizing the drinks are poisoned, grabs both girls. Instead of disabling Mulder with a well placed kick or blow (which I think they could have done), Teena and Cindy start shrieking for help and saying, "he's trying to hurt us" to a gun-toting man who is very likely to believe the girls.

I keep thinking of this episode as what could have been a very interesting series finale to the show "Full House". :-)

When I first saw this episode, I thought Mulder was playing a joke on Scully. He presents her with the evidence (holes in throat, drained of blood.)His conclusion is that it is connected to cattle mutilating Aliens. I expected a frustrated Scully to respond "don't be silly it it obviously the work of a vampire." Later, I saw a rerun of a Simpson's Holloween special in which Chief Wiggums is confronted with the same evidence. He comes to the conclusion that it is the work of a Mummy. Great minds do work alike.

For two such smart girls, they don't know their horticulture very well. They said the poison was foxglove extracted from the digitalis plant.
It's the other way around, digitalis is extracted from the foxglove.
But other than that this was a great ep.

Why would these two minors be incarcarated in the same prison as adults, despite Eves 9 and 10 being next to Eve 6? Aside from plot convenience, so Eve 8 only needs to go to one place to free them, it's very unlikely this would happen; plus I imagine M&S would at least request they be placed in separate facilities.
