Shadows

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: XFiles: Season One: Shadows
Synopsis: Mulder and Scully are called in by two mysterious government operatives, who question them about the deaths of two men who appear to have had their throats crushed from the inside. Mulder, as suspicious of the operatives as they are of him, doesn't offer up any information, but later tells Scully he suspects the use of psychokinesis, the manipulation of matter with the mind. The men attempted to attack a secretary named Lauren Kyte, but were then killed by a blurry figure seen on a ATM security camera. Lauren claims that she knows nothing about their deaths, but then the agents' car mysteriously kicks into reverse and causes an accident, while Lauren watches, convincing Mulder that Lauren is responsible for the men's death. The truth, though, is far more complicated: Lauren's boss, Howard Graves, was killed by his coworker Robert Dorland for threatening to reveal the companies' sale of parts to terrorists. Graves' ghost has been protecting Lauren from harm, and it later tears through Dorland's office, revealing the evidence of Dorland's illegal actions hidden in the wall.

When Mulder and Scully prepare for the operation with the two operatives, how is it there is no mention of what organisation they belong to? I mean seeing as Mulder mentioned this earlier..

I've been rewatching this entire series on Netflix and so far this ep stood out to me as being particularly vexing.

What's with all the tight-lips from the NSA (assuming that's where they're from since I don't believe they ever mentioned it)? They can't even say who they work for or what they want? The NSA has no jurisdiction over anyone; they're not law-enforcement so Mulder should've told them to shove off the first time they gave the silent treatment.

If Dorland gets a decent lawyer, not even a good one, he could claim he was physically coerced into revealing the disk's location and the investigation into HTC could be marginally comprimised. Enough so that he could potentiall get a reduced sentence.
