By Murray Leeder on Tuesday, October 20, 1998 - 8:32 pm:

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion this won't be the episode where Scully dies of cancer.

By K.N.D. on Friday, October 23, 1998 - 12:10 pm:

Why Murray, I haven't the slightest idea. ;-)

By B Brehm on Thursday, November 05, 1998 - 3:21 pm:

Maybe its the one where someone close to them dies, like perhaps Mulders mother.

By K.N.D. on Friday, November 06, 1998 - 3:29 am:

*Or*, Dear Diana could die here.

By Adam Chmelka on Monday, November 09, 1998 - 4:56 pm:

Well, the actress who plays Fowley's contract only runs through the first six episodes of the season, so I suspect she'll bite it in this one.

By K.N.D. on Monday, November 09, 1998 - 5:37 pm:

YESS!! Sorry, if you happen to like her, but I (obviously) don't. (She's interfering! She
upset Scully!)

By Joel Boutiere (Jboutiere) on Tuesday, November 10, 1998 - 10:04 am:

Personally, I'm crossing my fingers that either or both of the new X-Files agents gets knocked off. Think about it a second: Duchovny has publicly said many times that he wants to leave the show within the next few years, Carter has mentioned that he thinks the show could be done without Duchovny or Anderson if they decided to leave, a new male and female team have been brought in to head up the X-Files...Spender and Fowley are Mulder and Scully's replacements, not just in terms of the X-Files department, but for the whole show! I just can't imagine that dorkus Spender being the new lead of that show, and I'm not a big fan of Fowley either. Please, please, please kill these two off!

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 10, 1998 - 11:04 am:

Yeah, Spender is a nerd. At least Rat-boy (Krychek) had some personality!

By K.N.D. on Tuesday, November 10, 1998 - 6:31 pm:

All together (Chris Carter, please read this): We won't be too upset if they both get
killed.
Soon.
Please

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 10, 1998 - 9:31 pm:

Call Krycheck Rat-Boy is an insult to rats everywhere, call him gonarea man or something like that.

By K.N.D. on Wednesday, November 11, 1998 - 3:28 am:

I *almost* like him, he's just so wretched and sat upon. He sort of reminds me of
Gollum, except Gollum was uglier.

By Joel Boutiere (Jboutiere) on Friday, November 13, 1998 - 11:40 am:

I just had an even worse thought in terms of the whole Spender/Fowley thing. What if they're not an alternate M&S, but a spinoff waiting to happen? "The New X-Files," maybe, or "X-Files: The Next Generation"? Of course, I'm still bellyaching over the whole Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel spinoff (yeah, go ahead and laugh, but it is a really fun show), so I may be overly paranoid about this kind of thing.

By K.N.D. on Friday, November 13, 1998 - 12:59 pm:

I figure that will happen, I'm just praying "Su"Spender and Dear Diana aren't the
leads. It would be too much like M&S. I'm hoping that this will happen: The present
series finishes the seventh season with another movie, in which they tie up at least
*some* of the loose ends-- I'll let CC handle that. Scully gets abducted, and Mulder
trades himself for Scully. (Note for shippers: as Mulder is being sucked up into the
spaceship, he or Scully could yell, "I love you!" or something to that effect.) A
grieving and frustrated Scully quits the FBI, and becomes a full-fledged doctor. (This
would let Gillian come back in a new series as a guest star.) CC waits a year or so, and
starts The X-Files: TNG. This would star maybe Skinner, and have sort of a ST:TNG feel
about it in that we have six or seven *main* charactors. Maybe the Lone Gunmen
could be more regulars than they are now, and we need some new charactors. But
PLEASE don't make S&D the show, or even the way M&S are now. I really don't care for

By Mike Johnson on Saturday, November 21, 1998 - 4:37 pm:

I hate Spender!!!!!!!!!!!
At least Krychek believed.!!!!!
Fowley is a (G-rated site)!!!!!
I got it, CSM dies, Spender takes his place.
Die Fowley Die

By K.N.D. on Sunday, November 22, 1998 - 3:37 am:

Ahem. Are you going to get out the pesticide now, Bambi? Sorry, I meant Mike. ;-)

By Mike Johnson on Sunday, November 22, 1998 - 9:52 pm:

What does Ahem mean?

By K.N.D. on Monday, November 23, 1998 - 4:02 am:

Excuse me. Throat clearing. You get the idea.

By Bob Brehm on Monday, November 23, 1998 - 3:34 pm:

Could Kersh actully be an operative of CSM. That Would really explain a few things. It would make a lot of sense if Spender replaced CSM. He is after all his son.

By K.N.D. on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 3:21 am:

Well, what else was he doing in his office? And personally, I think it would be cool if
Samantha took his place. (Unless the last one got killed weirdly; I missed most of the
5th season

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 11:42 am:

I think/hope/am praying for that psycho [bleep] Fowley to bite the big one. In a BIG way. Like CSM gets SuSpender to prove his loyalty by popping his partner, SuSpender does, and then Mulder, in a fit of rage, pulls out his internal organs and beats him to death with them! (Sounds like a plan...)

By Joel Boutiere (Jboutiere) on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 2:29 pm:

Well, some amazing news (for myself at least, no one else will care, probably) is that this episode will guest star the man himself: Bruce Campbell. If you don't know who this is, go out and rent "Army of Darkness" right away. He also may be familiar to some as Autolycus from "Hercules" and "Xena," but whatever he's in, he's always really cool.

By K.N.D. on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 5:22 pm:

Okay, anyone have CC's e-mail addy? I've been talking on other BBS'es and I think I
have enough X-philes to mail him and ask him to bump them both off..

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 5:35 pm:

I thought Spender was a waste of screen space all the way back in Patient X!

By Murray Leeder on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 - 8:23 pm:

Hate to say it, but I like Spender. Oh no, not as a person... but as a character, he is a welcome presence as a continuous irritant to our heroes. He's like an mosquito... not a serious threat but just enough to be disruptive. I think the actor is playing the role just right... unlikable!

By Bob Brehm on Wednesday, November 25, 1998 - 3:28 pm:

K.n.d. you have my vote. Since Spender is supposably the son of Csm he's worse than Ratboy. we did see the two of them together 2 eps back.

By The Twelfth Man on Wednesday, November 25, 1998 - 3:33 pm:

Actually, I kind of like Krychek. You've got to feel sorry for him (as KND said) in a gollum-like way.

There's the definition of the yiddish terms Shlemiel and Shlemazel. The Shlemiel is the guy who spills the soup. The Shlemazel is the guy who gets spilled on. Krychek is definitely a Shlemazel.

By Ben Jackson on Sunday, December 13, 1998 - 9:26 pm:

I'm sorry, but it would not be the X-Files without Mulder and Scully. I guess I'm just old fashioned(I hate DS9 and VOY. I prefer TNG and TOS) but It would not work. What would be the point? there would be no quest. K.N.D. put me in for a vote. Spender and Fowley must be put to death, preferably painfully >;-)

By Ben Jackson on Sunday, December 13, 1998 - 9:28 pm:

P.S. The Gollum line will probably make sense to me when I finish The Two Towers (read the Hobbit, so I know who he is) :)

By Knd on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 4:04 am:

Sorry, you'll probably have to read The Return Of The King to get the full extent of
his, albeit pitful, slimeness.

By S. Donaldson on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 9:50 am:

I think Spender would be a good addition to the show. If he is a bit of a pill to S&M I understand where he's coming from. After all, he did specifically request that they not bother his mother and the almost next thing he hears is that Scully has met his mother at some bridge where she disappears. Add to this that Mulder breaks into a presentation of his, makes him do part of it over again, and then disagrees with his conclusions in from of the entire meeting, all but calling him a doofus and then hijacking the case. Added to that Mulder accuses him of conspiracy with this guy he's met only twice who claims to be his (Spender's) father.

By Knd on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 10:46 am:

Uh, S., this may seem trivial, but could you please conform to the usual way of
abbreviating Mulder and Scully? Otherwise, you try to talk about them and teenage
guys start to snicker. This has happened to me. Besides, weird people from search
engines show up. And That's Quite Enough Of That!
Moving along, I mostly agree to what you were saying, but I still hate his guts. GR&D

By S. Donaldson on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 11:09 am:

No problem. I just alway refer to them as Scully and Mulder and my perverse sense of humor did the rest. M&S to the end.

By Anonymous on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 6:29 pm:

S & M... ew....

By Charles Cabe (Ccabe) on Tuesday, December 15, 1998 - 1:12 am:

I am not a teenage and I still snicker at calling Mulder & Scully, S&M.

By Anonymous on Wednesday, December 16, 1998 - 10:04 pm:

S&M ? I dont get it, please enlighten me.

By Mike Konczewski on Thursday, December 17, 1998 - 10:05 am:

S&M is the abbreviation for sado-masochism; i.e., kinky bondage and torture for sexual pleasure. The kind Mulder likes (okay, that was a cheap shot, I know).

By Knd on Thursday, December 17, 1998 - 10:15 am:

moving *right* along, this ep's name is really promising to 'shippers. I'm thinking
some MSR. (Any problem with THAT abbreviation?!

By D Mann on Thursday, December 17, 1998 - 5:08 pm:

re: Bruce Campbell. Don't waste your time with "Army of Darkness," go straight to the real stuff: "Evil Dead 2:Dead by Dawn!" The best of the series! "Army of Darkness" stinks by contrast.

re: X-Files:the Next Generation. So what we're proposing here, really, is a show that waters down the original characters and re-writes half the original plotlines and runs five seasons too long?
And then cranks out a slew of cruddy movies?

By K.n.d. on Friday, December 18, 1998 - 10:44 am:

NO, we're (or "I'm", I guess) proposing that CC is a good enough dude to keep it going
for a spinoff. Or were you insulting ST:TNG? Wouldn't do it here..

By S. Donaldson on Saturday, December 19, 1998 - 8:57 am:

If you will bear with me for a moment I will get to the X-Files connection of this post.

Unfortunately One of my favorite shows, Remember WENN on AMC, is about to be cancelled. For those who like wit without laugh tracks this is a sad moment. All is not lost, however. For more details on the show and the write in campain to keep it on see the page at the end of this post. On Dec. 25 at 10PM the Christmas show will air. toward the end Mr. Eldridge will read a part of the letter that Sullivan Balloo (real person, actual) wrote to his wife during the Civil War just before he was killed. If you will recall, Ballew Sullivan was Mulder's name in "The Field Where I Died". It is a very touching moment.

By D Mann on Monday, December 21, 1998 - 9:56 am:

Yes, I was taking this opportunity to slam TNG. If you've seen my name elsewhere you know I welcome such opportunities. TNG was a bad show. But you're right; I shouldn't waste bandwidth slamming TNG in an X-Files area. The use of the phrase "X-Files: TNG" was just too tempting a target. I'll confine my TNG slams to the TNG vs. TOS area if I can from now on.

By K.n.d. on Monday, December 21, 1998 - 2:59 pm:

Please. Oh, and in the future, remember this:
Better watch your back/'Cause you never quite know where TNG fans is at/ (Insert
Will Smith's little noise here, I have no idea how to reproduce it. ;-)
