Saw this on Excite TV Listing :
Investigators address the unsolved murder of Agent Doggett's son.
I don't know. This one didn't do much for me.
Agent Reyes saw the charring body but the head was facing upward, the dead body was not. I was thinking maybe she was seeing what she saw before but when Doggett remembers it, the boy's charred body and uncharred body were in the same position.
She also tells Mulder she saw ash ... uhm, shouldn't she have said charred body?
At least now Mulder and Scully are warmer towards each other. But still they're toying with us by not revealing who the daddy is.
Hmm, so is the baby going to be a girl?
Agent Reyes is now trying to kick her smoking habit ... I guess if the cigarette-equal-bad-guy theory holds, then that means she's turning good eh?
Just my $0.02 tonight.
This was a strange one. It seemed unfocused - so what was the "fire thing" that possessed the people.
Very strange.
The whole thing with Doggett's son ran false in my mind. The whole episode seemed symptomatic of the past three seasons - somewhat slow pacing and unfocused plots.
Does anyone else think Chris Carter's plan is to have Doggett and Reyes be the FBI agents for an X-Files division in New Orleans for Season 10 (and beyond) and have Mulder & Scully be the DC division for the movies? It seems he doesn't want his only TV hit to ever go off the air.
GA has not signed for next season yet. If she does it can be Scully and Dogget, but if she says no he will make the show about Doggett and Reyes. Switching both leads in a 2 person show is something that I believe has only ever been done once before (anyone remember USA network's Silk Stalkings) Of course they could also have Scully appear in only a few eps next season if GA doesn't want to do all 22.
If any of you were wondering, the host for this fire-based entity is played by actor Jay Underwood of the Not Quite Human movies. In fact, what I find funny is how this is the second time he and Annabeth Gish (Agent Reyes) have appeared together. As child actors, they appeared in the movie Desert Bloom with Jon Voight.
After sifting through some credits to Jay Underwood, I noticed he appeared on an episode of Chris Carter's "Millennium." In addition, actor Ralph Hemecker appeared both in the "Millennium" episodes "The Well-Worn Lock," "The Curse of Frank Black," and "Exegesis" and "The X-Files" episode "Schizogeny." Furthermore, actor Cliff Bole appeared both in the "Millennium" episode "Walkabout" and "The X-Files" episodes "Small Potatoes" and "Bad Blood." Moreover, actor Michael W. Watkins appeared both in the "Millennium" episode "Sacrament" and "The X-Files" episodes "Dreamland II," "Tithonus," "Arcadia," "The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati," "Sein und Zeit," and "X-Cops." There are perhaps dozens more, including this one stern-looking brunette actor who appeared in one "Millennium" episode as a TV censor (he burst onto the set of an outright reference to "The X-Files," yet this is ignored after there is a "Millennium"/"The X-Files" crossover, especially since there is a movie based upon the two agents via "Hollywood A. D.") and later in season six's premiere for "The X-Files" as a board member evaluating the dynamic duo. My point is that there is not much consistency if we are constantly seeing more and more doubles of characters from two separate TV shows that have officially had a crossover.

Yeah. I didn't like the replacements. The guy was OK, I guess, but the girl was a tramp. Rita always showed up for work looking professional.
Josh G. asked: "so what was the "fire thing" that
possessed the people."
The fire was the big bad evil that infected all the killers. It would have been nice if they'd shown it jumping to the other two hosts, just to make it clear.
I'm liking the chemistry among the four characters. I think they could split off any two to do the rest of the show, especially Mulder and Reyes (but that'll never happen).
I wish they'd just let this thing with dignity. I used to love the XFiles, but now DD looks like he's getting a root canal every time he's in a scene with GA. The Mulder-Scully relationship was the heart and soul of the XFiles. Now they're acting like they couldn't care less for each other, and without that relationship all the XFiles is, is just a (sometimes badly written) scifi show. I almost hope they don't renew it, because it's painful to watch. Then maybe we could just have a really well-written XFiles movie every couple of years (if DD and GA can stand each other that long)...
I neglected to mention how, during the course of this episode, there is this moment after Special Agent Monica Reyes apprises Special Agent Fox W. Mulder of Special Agent John Doggett's son's death that I title as the melodramatic, staring pause scene in that they dramatically stare at each other with no dialogue and allegedly mood-stirring music. Why not bring back Marita Covarrubias?
Denise Crosby must have been pretty desperate for work if she agreed to appear in this episode with only three lines of dialogue!

When you first saw signs of the doll, I was almost expecting it to look different and say "I want to play!" :P
