We now have a title for this episode: "Alone." [source: the Official Site]

By Amos on Sunday, March 25, 2001 - 1:41 pm:

Cool Sarah. I'll make the change.

By John on Sunday, May 06, 2001 - 8:02 pm:

That was cool at the end when she asked how Mulder and Scully got back from Antarctica after Mulders snow-cat ran out of gas (Durning the movie). I've always wondered that myself, as has other nitpickers. Funny how they got out of answering the questiong too!

Why did lizard man leave the body of the old guy out it the woods? Shouldn't he have been left in the tunnel to be turned into a ready-made meal along with the other guy?

By Amos on Sunday, May 06, 2001 - 8:47 pm:

John, yeah. that had me laughing too.

I hope they bring back Agent H? (dang, and I after I tried to remember her name) she was an interesting little joke of a character. And quite cute too.

This was a fun little episode. I liked the reptile man crawling up the side of the est

By Duane Parsons on Monday, May 07, 2001 - 6:38 am:

How many shots Agent Doggett did fire at reptile man? I did not remember to count. IIRC the FBI uses 10mm (40 cal) weapons. The magazine carries 12 rounds. It seemed that Doggett fired more than 12 rounds at the creature. Normally, one carries at least one additional magazine for the weapon, but no where did I see Agent D. reload.
Also, what happend to Agent Harris' (I believe that was her name) pistol? Most likely it was dropped it when the creature took her away, but when Agent D. went out the front door, there was no pistol or empty cartridges (she fired two shots). Now the creature could have thrown the pistol, but there should have been some brass near the 'scene.'
I liked Agent Harris. She must have an excellent memory if she remembered all the times Mulder and Scully did something. Hope to see her again.

This episode ranks up there with some of my favorites personaly. It was a normal episode that had a whole bunch of beatiful little extra things:
Mulder: Oprah. I watch a lot of Oprah
Scully finding Queequag name tag.
Agent H. the x phile asking M&S how they got back from antacrtica:):)....

By Mandy on Monday, May 07, 2001 - 9:17 am:

Poor old Agent Harrison. I remember thinking, "Wow, she didn't even make it through half the episode!" I was rather surprised to see her again, much less actually survive.

I find it beyond belief Doggett could actually hit the thing based on the direction of Mulder's voice, never mind not hitting Mulder himself.

By MikeC on Monday, May 07, 2001 - 1:43 pm:

Good episode, although there were some moments in which I wondered what was up.

First, what happened to Dr. Seites? Did he experiment on himself to turn himself into a lizard man? Why? Was the thing a creation of his that killed him, and assumed his appearance? Why and how? Why did Seites capture the FBI agents if he knew it would start an investigation? Why did he even kill the caretaker and his son? Not getting enough food from deer?

Secondly, did Mulder figure out that Seites WAS the thing? I mean, it just looks like Mulder sorta wonders into a trap. Was that some sort of grand plan?

How many episodes were referenced anyway? "Detour" and "Squeeze," for sure, and I forget the others. Doggett's line "Mulder and Scully AREN'T here" was sort of talking to the audience in a way.

By Lauren Mag on Monday, May 07, 2001 - 8:04 pm:

I almost felt like Agent Harrison was representing the audience...

1. Dreamland 2 (penny and dime in scullys box)
2. Quagmire (Queequags Nametag :(RIP)
3. Max (Apollo 11 keychain)
4. Tooms & Squeeze (Agent H brings up)
5. Detour (Ditto)
6. The Movie (Ditto again)

I know there's more. I just can't remember them.

Actually Mike I think Mulder dropped the ball. Dogget suspected the scientist was at least behind it by the way he reacted. Harrison was the one who figured it out.

By MikeC on Tuesday, May 08, 2001 - 4:59 pm:

What is the significance of the title, aside from possibly Scully leaving the X-Files to leave Doggett "alone?"

By Dan R. on Tuesday, May 08, 2001 - 7:37 pm:

Why did lizard man leave the body of the old guy out it the woods? Shouldn't he have been left in the tunnel to be turned into a ready-made meal along with the other guy?

I think the reason was because he died of heart problems...if he dies before his insides turn to liquid then that venom wont work...im guessing the circulation of a beating heart spreads the venom throughout the body to make the insides turn to a liquid.

By Brian Webber on Tuesday, May 08, 2001 - 7:37 pm:

Maybe alone is how Dogget and harrison felt when they started to go blind.

By Dan R. on Tuesday, May 08, 2001 - 7:44 pm:

Pretty good ep...once again PAL...why watch it alone? I didnt find it scary. My parents watch it with me and my mom jumped when Doggett fell into the dungeon thing...
Was I the only one thinking that if Doggett wandered outside before the reptile got harrison that she would have accidently shot him? ;-)
All I could think was that she was the X-Files version of a red shirted ensign...;-) Very cute though...Nice of Doggett to want to give her the medallion.
I thought maybe Kursh had sent her as some sort of torture for Doggett...make him want to leave the Xfiles...;-)
Wouldnt Mulder get in trouble with impersanting Kursh? I mean its illegal to impersonate a cop so wouldnt it be worse to fake being a big guy in the FBI?

By APD on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 - 8:38 am:

Hey everyone,a couple of questions for you,
Firstly how does Mulder manage to simply wander off from his tour? shouldnt securitiy in an FBI building be a little less ••••? and just how does he know Scullys performing an autopsy, is the man psychic or something?

By constanze on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 - 5:42 am:

I loved this episode, funny (a blonde - I thought how gillian dyed her hair in the beginning so not to have a stereotype blonde! :-)) Who would have thought that Mulder & Scully have fans in the bureau? I got the strong impression that the producers wanted to show their version of an xphile... She was really nice with her roundeyed enthusiam. Poor Doggett. He is looking with his gun for some monster and his blonde, untrained partner comes up, he sends her outside (I got the impression he wanted her out from under his feet, as he didn't think she would be helpful in a gunfight) only to have her kidnapped by the monster...

and the touching moments between the characters, a little bit like the spooky christmas episode: humor and touching moments.

Questions: If agent h. is from bookkeeping/finance, did she undergo any sort of special agents training? She says this is her first real investigation. Shouldn't she have gotten some more training, or does kersh want to get rid of her? (kersh doesn't like fans?)

dogget could use some gun training: in the house, before he is blinded, he doesn't hit the lizard at all. (but of course, at the right moment, he hits the lizard, not mulder... magic bullets?)

why does the lizard turn back into the scientist after he is shot? What triggers the morphing, anyway?

why would a scientist want to change himself into a lizard and expirement on himself? Or was he careless and it was an accident?

How does the scientist know that mulder isn't kersh, and why did he call skinner so quickly to make trouble? (I guess Mulder will never learn how to be diplomatic instead of antagonizing everybody he meets, although he gets more trouble than results sometimes! Maybe he thinks he isn't doing the real thing if people don't get mad at him?)

APD: I guess Mulder just knew the places scully likes to hang out :-) I got the impression that he was surprised to see scully, he probably only wanted to see the results of the autopsy and the lab work. He wanted scully to take it easy because of her pregnancy, not to cut up dead guys. As for security, he has been inside long enough to know how to avoid it, I guess..

By APD on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 8:31 am:

I suppose he could know his way around, but he seems to be their for the specific reason of getting the autosy results to me, besides without the badge Mulder seems like he should be in an episode of Murder she wrote.

Most likely he just called to complain about 'harassment', hoping that doing so would get 'Kersh' off his back, and the impersonation aspect only came to light when he gave the name of the agent who'd been making insinuations.

Nice to see this new agent Lyle named after a late x-files fanfic author.
