Sigh. Yet another Monster-of-the-Week episode.
Plus I thought it was kinda dull.
Kinda fun to see the 'Mulder and Scully woulda' girl again, I guess.
Is it just me or am I the only one who would like to see some episodes related to the Mythology, or what's left of it.
This episode bears a strong resemblence to the Twilight Zone episode called, I believe, "It's a Good Life."
Best line of the episode (tie):
John Doggett: "Agent Doggett's gonna' sit his tired ass down."
Gabe: "So this is Johnny Fabulous..."
Anyone else think Alien when the monster was squirming around in Reyes's stomach?
Shouldn't the kid be locked in a remote
facility, far away from other patients so
his condition couldn't aggrivate
theirs? And just how would the staff deal
with the effects on the other patients
and themselves if the power fails to all of
those T.V. sets?
All good concerns. The ending worked as a funny joke but when you think about it the whole solution was a universaly bad idea. Put the kid infront of a bunch of TVs so that he doesn't think about stuff? Yea right, unless you show him nothing but the Home & Garden Channel all you are doing is putting more ideas in his head. Depending on what shows he watching, he's going to start manifesting Startrek Villans, Serial Killers (if he's got court TV or American Justice showing), Shadows (from B5), and more.
I liked this one a lot. Meta-references, a fairly good plot, an excellent resolution, and some good one-liners from Doggett make this one a keeper. I don't know if the boy was nutso or if he just had an overactive imagination.
I enjoyed the line about "Mulder and Scully aren't here, Doggett and Reyes are," because it sort of summed things up for the season: Things are different, and so they are (although I preferred Doggett and Scully to Doggett and Reyes, although Reyes is getting better).
Also, "Scared yet?" at the end. For a second, I thought Doggett was going to toast the kid.
Hilarious moment: Scully performing an autopsy on a long-dead cat while wearing an apron bearing the words "Mmmmm! Something smells good!"
Also I loved the kid saying "I made this."
Makes my Top Five of the season.
