From TV Guide.com: The story begins when Doggett catches someone in the X-files office trying to steal documents pertaining to Mulder's sister. The intruder is a severely scarred man who blames his disfigurement on Government conspirators. He says the source of that information---and, in fact, the one who helped him gain entry---is Mulder. Although he refuses to divulge the missing agent's whereabouts, the mystery man has enough knowledge of the X-files and its history to lead Doggett to suspect that he just might be Mulder himself.

Science nit: There is no way Spender could be genetically identical with Mulder if they have different mothers.

I guess we now know that Cancer Man is Mulder's father......

Question - When was Spender killed, and why did Cancer Man kill him? It's been too long...

Wow, what a lame story. This one was so obviously padded since they didn't really have a story line. And how exactly does Scully think giving her baby to some couple in the sticks is going to protect him? The baddies found her and Reyes out in the boonies when she gave birth, so tracking down the kid anywhere would be no problem.

So, with the last couple shows, instead of "The Truth is Out There" at the end of the opening credits, will they have "The End is Near"?

Even if mulder and spender had the same mother, they would still have different DNA unless they were monozygotic twins - which they don't seem to be, judging by their appearance.

Unless the FBI Lab doing the test is very sloppy - I don't know what part of the DNA they test for ID.

How come they have a DNA sample of mulder just lying around at the lab, anyway?

So, Spender breaks in, to be caught, beats up doggett for no good reason at all (except that doggett will be mad at him), to gain their trust, to be admitted to the house and get access to the baby? But because he hasn't talked to mulder, he couldn't know the files weren't in the office. But how does breaking into the office, no matter where the files are, gain trust to see the baby? This plan seems very loose, I don't know.

If william is half-alien, he can't be the child of both mulder and scully - well, not according to human science. People who have more than the normal set of chromosomes are usually retarded or handicapped (e.g. Down-syndrome), not alien.

If williams telekinetic and other wonderful abilities come from his alien DNA, how will one jab with a syringe change his DNA??? Medical science isn't that advanced. Or will the metal stay in his blood for ever? Sounds a little bit like wishful thinking rather than therapy.

When Dogget finds the syringe, he doesn't think of rushing to the hospital where william is treated with the bottle, although in normal cases of poisoing, the doctors will want to know as much as possible about the substance. This would also save time on the tests they have to run.

The alien medicine may make people scarred, but it can also resurrect people from certain death - spender was shot so point-black, he should be definetely dead. (a similar problem is mulder in the movie: shot in the face, but the bullet miracously skims of his skull, leaving not even a scar on his nice face! Maybe conspiracies always have magic bullets only? :) )

Is that mulders aquarium we see in scullys apartment (this time with fishes and an ufo)?

They should have known this couldn't be mulder from the point when the man says the conspiracy wanted to turn him into an alien, too, and thats the reason he is scarred - any conspiracy would have better sense than to take over mulder! (Otherwise, the conspiracy wouldn't last long).

Why does scully take the guy, who is afraid of what will happen to him, take of to quantico, anyway? The research she does on him could have been done in any doctors office in washington, as well.
