Hey! I'm a long time visitor to nitcentral but I have never send any nits (until now). i haven't purchased "The Nitpickers Guide to the Xfiles" so i don't know if this nit has been covered already. so please forgive me for bring up a previous nit.

I was watching "never again" this weekend and found a nit. after scully was awaken by the police detectives looking for ed, she decides to call Mulder for help. but instead of calling Mulder directly she calls the FBI receptionist who then transfer her to Mulder. This is the first time i think she did this. so is this a new nit or not.

To anonymous: Yup, that's a new nit. Congratulations on your powers of observation.

There is one thing I am curious about. Scully gets a tattoo on her back. While the artist is working on her, she is sitting on a chair, leaning forward, with the hem of her shirt pulled up a little. Would it make more sense to lie down on her stomach?

I don't know if this is a nit or not, but it struck me as odd. There's enough ergot in the bloodstain Jerse leaves in Ms Schilling's flat (which we don't see, but it's hardly likely to be a vast amount of blood) that the police can identify it, yet Mulder claims that there's not enough ergot in Jerse's bloodstream to have caused hallucinogenic ergotism. Doesn't that seem a little unlikely?

Even worse, if the police have had the blood sample analysed so that they know the chemical composition, why havn't they
a) got DNA from it,
b) worked out what the chemical actually is.

And they're certainly working on CSI time - Eddies neighbour's been missing for a couple of days at most, and the Jehovas Witnesses probably wouldn't have sounded the alarm, yet two detectives have already entered her flat, analysed blood samples, then started on the door-to-door inquiries. Most likely, it would have been uniformed officers sent to investigate any missing person report, checked with any contacts (like relatives) if she'd gone out of town then asked about her to the neighbours, landlord and local store holders.

As for how Scully's sitting for the tattoo (and in the UK certainly, Tattooists aren't allowed to do anything if you're drunk, and Scully seemed fairly well, erm, self-aneathetised by the amount of discomfort she displays when the tattooist starts), but it might be easier for him to work on Scully's lower back with her sat like that as opposed to her lying down.

Although, why she'd get her first tattoo on an area like that where she can't see it, and what the FBI's rules on their agents getting tattoos, piercings and similar body adornments are, are different matters as well.;-)
