Hey, whaddya think would have happened if the
phone hadn't fortuitously rung just then? Would
Mulder have actually killed himself, playing the
Judas to Scully's Jesus? (Sorry, Big Guy. Intent
is not to offend.)

I don't think this ep is much more than an annoying red herring, which is probably what TPTB were going for. We don't hear excatly what Kritschgau told Scully to make her so completely believe him, which would've been nice considering all the wasted time in this ep, but I find it impossible that he could account for everything the pair have experienced thus far for the X-Files; especially where aliens are concerned. Then there's the fact that we, the viewers, knows Kritschgau is full of it so why even bother with a story like this when it doesn't add a bit of suspence or drama?

In the Guide Phil seems to believe that the 'body' found in Canada is indeed a fake, and when taking that channel combined with Kritschgau's insight into account we are suppose to surmise that being accurate. However, I don't for a minute believe it was fake because it was just too good to pull off by pouring hybrid/chimera cells into ice. I can't explain that channel, maybe it was part of a burial ritual, but perhaps the odd cells are part of the alien's decay process or something. There's too many inconsistancies between this ep and the rest of the show to be taken even remotely serious.
