Please get the synopsis on here quickly!! I
forgot to watch it, and everyone keeps talking
about something happening with Marita.
AMATURE PLOT SYNOPSIS: In the previous episode, Scully was summoned to a bridge along with some fellow implantees. This episode begins with the aftermath, including a few dozen chared bodies. Meanwhile, WMM negotiates with Krychek to get a vaccine for the black oil and a Russian kid that is infected. We later find out that it was two UFOs fighting each other that caused the damage. At the end, we also learn that Johnson (Cancerman) is alive and well in Canada. (I think its Quebec.)
I hope this straightens things up.
Thank you. now I remember the ep before this. At least you guys only had to wait a
week; imagine having to wait a month to find out what happened. IHCH! (IHate
Cliff-Hangers)
By the way, I assume that the title refers to Communism vs. the Black Cancer.
I thought it was a chess metaphor... and someone said something about a book. Very cool title indeed.
Great episode, too. Defnetly the best two parter since Piper Maru/Apocrypha in the third season
And there was a KISS there was a KISS there was a KISS
From who to who?
This is the first of the episodes to point out clues that Spender is CSM's son. However, I would like to note that there is possible evidence pointing that Mulder is CSM's son. I'm hazy about it, but I think before he is ambushed by Krycek, Mulder is about to answer the new mail he got. That could be CSM's letter! Yes, I know Spender got a letter, and I know, CSM calls Spender "his son". But maybe...they're brothers! Someone pointed out that they looked similar. Wouldn't this be...rather odd? Mulder and Spender brothers! Also, was CSM ever married to Cassandra Spender? If so, wouldn't that mean CSM has the last name of Spender? And if so, what happened here? According to "Musings", CSM has been busily working for the government since the early 60s and late 50s. When did he have time for romance, let alone marriage? It's also interesting to note that he doesn't mention Spender or his mother in his "Great American Novel".
Actually, he does. In Musings, when he's recruited to assassinate Kennedy, he sits for a few seconds and stares at a snapshot of a woman and child.

Speaking of Spender, I wonder how his conception came about. Was Cancerman inspecting the abductees one day and suddenly said "Wow, she's hot!"?
CSM has some free time occasionally - he watches all these bad movies and like william B Davis, is a pretty good water skier ( see Talitha Cumi). I think that Samantha is CSM's daughter. That's why he has all these clones of her - h's populating the world with himself.
Yukyukyukyukyuk... Krycek kissed Mulder... yukyukyuk....
It could have been worse - he could have kissed Ally McBeal
The kiss is one of the best parts!
krycek kissed mulder?! I gotta find someone with the tape! This, I gotta see to believe.
that comment about csm by murray leeder, ROFL!!!!
(well, she's an old bird, but she could still display a navel piercing without fear of ridicule!)
I forgot to post this a few months ago but after Season 8's season premiere, I can finally figure out how the ABH survived this episode since there are like 20 of them.
Mike C: According to "Musings", CSM has been busily working for the government since the early 60s and late 50s. When did he have time for romance, let alone marriage?
Romance is one thing but marriage and conception can both happen in an afternoon. CSM is truely a mysterious person and there are some significant hints that Mulder is his son as well, but that was never confirmed I believe.
It appears I was a bit hasty with my post for the previous ep as I forgot many details of this ep and the origin of the vaccine. The Russians were the first to develop it, but I am curious as to how it became much more effective between here and Fight the Future? Perhaps a rewatch of that will reveal the answer. I again wonder how the Russians were not only able to develop it before the Consortium but also have access to so much more black oil. Did they really get that much of the stuff from the ground that they could use it so freely and the Consortium have practically none?
