Mind's Eye

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: XFiles: Season Five: Mind's Eye
The police finds a murdered drug dealer and and a blind woman, Marty Glenn, scrubbing up the blood. Mulder, Scully, and the local authorities cannot figure out how Marty could have killed the man with such precision. Mulder suspects Marty, a fiercely independent young woman, has some sort of “sixth sense” that allowed her to witness what happened.

Marty experiences visions that allow her to “see” in her mind what the murderer sees. At one point, she calls him at a bar and tells him to stop bothering the woman next to him. Due to insufficient evidence, Marty is released. Soon after, she returns to the police and confesses to killing the woman in the bar and the drug dealer. She also reveals the location of a heroin stash.

Evidence links the stash to Gotts, who has been released recently from jail. Gotts was the one who killed both the dealer and the woman. Gotts had killed Marty’s mother while pregnant with Marty.

Marty is released. However, she does not want to “see” the interior of a jail cell again. She gives Scully and Mulder false clues as to Gott’s whereabouts. Intending to kill Marty, Gotts breaks into her apartment. But Marty is ready for him and she shoots Gotts. In jail, a content Marty refuses Mulder’s offer of help. The only thing she now “sees” is the first thing Gotts saw when he was released: the sea by Atlantic City.

So Martie's father was locked up for nearly 30 years for assault? He must not have had a very good lawyer.
