Sanctuary

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Earth: Final Conflict: Season Three: Sanctuary
Summary:
Liam Kincaid races against the clock to find Zo’or, who disappears after contracting an ancient Taelon virus that has the potential to cause a devastating plague.

Once again the head of the Resistance tries to save Zo'or. Sheesh.

At one point a street vendor is selling downloads of a newspaper. Why would anyone download news off the street like this? Don't they have computers at home?

The doctor doesn't know much about the disease, so he stays on Earth to avoid spreading the disease among the other Taelons. Makes sense. However, when Zo'or escapes, he moves to the Mothership. How can he be certain he isn't contaminated with this disease?

The doctor makes a comment about the plague turning New York into a city of psychopaths. Ummmm, how would they notice? ;-) ;-) ;-)

So what is the connection between Ma'el & this disease?

Maybe he thinks that even Zo'or is better than T'thon, I definitely do.

On the other hand T'thon would be easier to present in a bad light, and would turn public opinion against the Taelons in a big way.

On the other, and rather unlikely third, hand at least Zo'or never advocated "slaughter enough and they will comply."

But how well does Liam know T'thon? We the viewer certainly saw what a piece of work he is, but has Liam seen that side of T'thon? (Of course, I've missed a couple of episodes, so I'm not certain how many times Liam & T'thon have even met.)

No, to me it's an example of bad, or lazy, writing. Zo'or has to stay around because the actress who plays him is a regular, so even if it made sense from a story point of view to kill him, they can't.
Kind of like how the bad guy always has to make a mistake that lets the hero escape from the death trap. In the real world, *bang* one bullet through the head, or heart, & that's that.
The good writers can find ways to make it work, or seem believable, but Howard Chaykin failed with this one.

It also seems like they are trying to make the character of Zo'or more sympathetic to the viewer.

Here's a nit I forgot. T'thon makes a deal with Sandoval, that Sandoval should let Zo'or die. Wasn't the purpose of the implant to make the person protect the Taelons at all costs? Would T'thon know that Sandoval's implant has failed? And if he does know that the implant isn't working, why trust Sandoval?

One word. Boone.

And Sandoval's implant seems to be a forgotten arc or something. I doubt we will ever get the closure we wanted.

Didn't the embassy get bombed in the last episode? Those Taelon engineers sure work fast!

In the last episode, T'thon said he would support Da'an against Zo'or. Now, it looks like T'thon and Da'an are enemies!

Didn't Sandoval's get fixed? In any case, this episode did nothing to explain how a person with an implant would react if one Taelon turns against another. I would think Sandoval would remain loyal to whoever was officially in power. Or would conflicting orders drive him nuts, rather like Hal in 2001?

I think you're thinking of the first season episode, Sandoval's Run, where his implant failed & was replaced. In the second season it was revealed that all Sandoval's second implant had a 98% failure or something, because the Human brain was able to overcome the implant.

Just finished watching this one a little eariler. Not bad, but not good either. It seems like the writers never wanted to peg down what was wrong with Zo'or.
