Mystery's first American production comes on tomorrow night. Hopefully, they won't screw it up too badly.
Haven't gotten around to seeing this one yet, but one look at the publicity photos brings up this nit. Namely, why is Leaphorn wearing a suit? Presumably it's to illustrate that he's not a follower of Navajo traditions, but there had to be a better way. A suit doesn't seem to be practical wear for the New Mexico desert.
I've read some Hillerman (not this one), and I thought it was a good adaptation. Chee was...played...a little...too...laconically...at...times, but Wes Studi was superb as Leaphorn. While he didn't look like how I envisioned, Leaphorn, he had the voice and mannerisms down pat.
