I haven't actually seen this one yet, or Mallrats, but "Sax" tells me that this almost got an NC-17 rating based on it's language alone. Now, again, I haven't seen it, but it sounds truly ridiculous. I have to wonder who is in charge of the Ratings Board. For some reason I'm picturing "The Oldest Living Confederate Widow."

The language is pretty rough in every Kevin Smith movie but it's no worse than the South Park movie. And unlike South Park, the obscenity isn't there just for shock value. There's a hilarious scene where a woman comes into the video store with her young daughter looking for a Disney movie. The clerk says he's on the phone to the distributor at that moment and will order the movie. He then lists off dozens of porn films with their typical rude titles... and, oh yeah, the Disney movie. Good stuff. The only think I didn't like about the movie was that it was filmed in black and white.

Definately one of the best Gen X movies!!! I have seen it 13 times, and loved it each time. Randal was my favorite character. definately a must see!

It was the "37" discussion that did it.

The only think I didn't like about the movie was that it was filmed in black and white.

That was all they could afford at the time. And to afford that much Kevin and someone else working on the movie (I can't remember the guy's name) signed up for a basket-weaving class at the local community college to get a Student Discount on the filmstock (immediately afterwards they canceled the enrollment without having attended the class and got their money back).

I saw this last night on IFC, and it's funny as hell. Jay even reminds me of someone I work with at Stop & Shop. They showed some interesting facts before the movie, such as "Lisencing the soundtrack cost more than making the movie" and "Clerks is the most stolen video in America." I saw this once two years ago but forgot about most of what was in it.

One thing I liked about it was all the local stuff. Like the newspaper rack with the Asbury Park Press on it, and Veronica mentioning a school called Seton Hall.

Oh yeah, and I've even got a picture of myself standing in front of the Quick Stop last year.

Didn't work for me, either, Tom.

I like so say "I'm not even suposed to be here today." at work. Especailly, if it's my day off.

Alright, let's try that again. You're going to have to cut and paste these addresses because, as other people in the past have found out, clicking on links to this site just gets an error message. The second picture is a magazine article taped to the window of the RST Video store.
