Nit: Marisa Tomei covers for Joe Pesci by calling the New York Clerk's Office so that his judge friend can expound upon the "impressive legal career of Jerry Callo". However, Pesci NEVER tells Marisa that he told the judge that his legally changed name was Callo not Gallo. So, how did she know?

Jerry CALLO!!! I JUST finished watching the movie and I noticed the same thing that I have noticed every single time that I have seen the movie. When Vinny knows that the judge knows that Jerry Gallo is dead, he gives the name Jerry CALLO. From that point on Vinny is not on good terms with Lisa
and thefore he never has an oppurtunity to tell Lisa that he told the judge a different name. But
magically in the end Lisa calls Vinny's mentor for a fax about Jerry Callo but she was never told
that was the name he gave the judge. It just doesn't make any sense.

Everyone testified to seeing a metalic green car with a white convertable top, there is
even a picture of the car presented as evidence. However, the top was down the whole time, When
the two were leaving the store and driving down the road they were doing it with the convertable
top down. How can Vinny, the two defendants, the police chief etc, miss this glaring mistake.

Most memorable exchange of dialogue in the movie:

Vinnie:"The two Yuts!"

Judge:"The two what?"

I believe this was the last appearance anywhere
of "Herman Munster".(I mean the actor who played
him!)

The scriptwriter neglected to put in the tread width for the tire size noted in this film. Tires are sized like this: 215-75R14. The 215 stands for the tread width, 75 is the percentage of tire height to width (in this case, 75% as high as it is wide,) R stands for a radial tire (universal these days) and 14 is the rim size it fits on. No determination can be made about the tires without focusing on the tread width, something ignored here.
Maybe the Writer's Guild should give classes in basic auto technology, or have their writers ask any guy who works at Pep Boys. This, combined with my Monster's Ball nit about ignition points in a car that clearly could not have them (see my post for that film) leads me to believe that that sometimes film writers don't do the most basic research. The difference here is that in Monster's Ball, the line about points was a throwaway one, while in My Cousin Vinny, the tire size is an important plot point.

Marissa Tomei earned her Oscar, IMO.
