I'm surprised this wasn't in there already! Anyways, I just finished the novelization for the movie, which I've seen several times.
Any comments?
Dang cool film. I'm surprised that a Ford could make it that fast without falling apart though.
Nit. The title is "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension". (emphasis mine).
Special Edition DVD comes out next month! (More then)
Anybody spot any nits in the film?
It's played a lot lately on channels in the Showtime package.
I rented this pic ages ago. Put me to sleep. I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now.
Having just finished watching this movie, I can say with assurance...
"...THE HELL?"
What WAS that? I mean, I've been a fan of plenty of Sci-fi that everbody else thought was worthless... but can anybody explain the appeal of this movie to me?!?!
It has bad guys, lots of people named john, funny jokes, and more stars than you can shake a stick at before they was stars, plus a jet propelled F150! I have worn out two tapes of this before I was able to get it on DVD. I have to admit though that i have a tendency to like some very out there movies (I am going to try and see shaun of the dead because that looks like a blast!!)
When the Hong Kong Cavaliers hack into the Yoyodyne personnel files, John Small Berries's file identifies his title as "Orbital Ergonomtrics Team Leader" (sic). When Sectretary McKinley encounters John Small Berries at Yoyodyne he is one of the front gate security guards (who, moreover, bears no resemblence to the picture in Small Berries's file).
Here's a (mixed) review of the film, from Nick Coccellato over at Eccentric Cinema.com
