This was a nice (if long) movie. One thing I didn't understand was why Morritz was going to give his daughter the violin at the end...if he knew it was painted with blood and cursed, wouldn't he do somehting else with it?
I don't think Morritz ever thought that the curse actually "cursed" the violin. And the blood was probably well mixed into the wood. I think Morritz just wanted his daughter to have this "perfect" acoustic machine that had such a rich history.
