Watched this yesterday with my young nephews. The animation was gorgeous. Remarkably, for an animated animal movie, the animals did NOT talk to each other. There was an occasional voice-over narration by "Spirit" (who was called "Mustang" by all the humans until the end of the movie) but most of the time they relied on facial expressions, body language, neighs, nickers, and whinnies. One of my nephew's favorite parts was when a person got knocked into a manure pile. (Naturally!)

Lots of excitement and occasional peril, but most actual violence was avoided. (An attack on an Indian village was quickly moved off-screen, before you see anyone actually get hurt.)

As a patron at our library put it, "A very family-friendly movie."
