A thought; Before Jackson arrived, if the scientists were so sure that they had definetely got the first six symbols on the gate, why couldn't they just put in the first six, and then run through every symbol one after the other? They would've got to the right one eventually.

Maybe they were afriad of it blowing up? I'm sorry, I know you see it as a nit, but I can't help but think that that way would've been really dumb.

First, there is already a Stargate: The Movie board under Stargate SG1. This nit is explained in the TV series (StarGate SG1).

SPOILER FOR THE SHOW

They got the gate to work properly once before, but the man who went through (Ernest) was lost, presumed killed. They didn't tell Kathryn Langford about it, but since she was researching the same way her father was, she didn't input a seventh symbol until she was sure she had the right one.

And doing nothing isn't? Trying symbol combinations should've been the first thing they did. If the show claims they got it working once before, why did they need Daniel?

I like this movie, and it certainly had potential for others, but from it I got the impression there was only the two stargates. If these aliens had so many, why did they need a ship? I don't watch the shows, seems kinda lame to me, but the concept is very interesting.

About the movie, were the alien guards physically enhanced? I ask because Kurt fires into the stomache of one of them and there's not so much as a powder burn. I'll go check the other movie board now.

They got it working but the men which were sent never came back... so the project was shelved/shut down..

Stargate SG-1 makes this entire film a nit. According to The Torment of Tantalus, they had figured out back in the '40s how to get *somewhere*.

Since SG-1 appears to be in the same continuity as the movie, why didn't they use that address in the movie?
