Legally Blonde

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Comedy: Legally Blonde

Cross Clueless with The Paper Chase, and the result will probably be very much like this very likable comedy, a bit formulaic but still a lot of fun. Reese Witherspoon stars as Elle Woods, a sorority queen who gets into Harvard Law School to win back her boyfriend. Once there, she encounters the usual classroom foibles, student cliques and other problems of law school life. She realizes her true potential when she is picked by one of her professors to assist on a murder case he is defending. The film even has its own Kingsfield in Prof. Stromwell (Holland Taylor.)
One of the early plot points, when Elle is unprepared for the first day of Stromwell's class, is lifted right out of The Paper Chase, both the movie and the TV series.

A Nit - Chutney (Linda Cardellini) is shown taking the oath before testifying for the defense in the murder trial. Why would she have to do this, as she was previously shown testifying for the prosecution?
NANJAO - Emmett (Luke Wilson) asks Elle how he would look as a blonde. Could that be a reference to Wilson's brother Owen (Armageddon, Behind Enemy Lines) who has blonde hair?

Bit of a nit, but perhaps it could be easily explained by someone who knows better than me...

Early on at Harvard, Elle introduces herself thus:

"I'm Elle Woods, this is Bruiser Woods and we're both Gemini vegetarians."

My understanding is that when you force animals to adopt a diet they would never adopt in the wild, bad things happen to them. (Rather like a case I've heard of about a particularly 'fanatic' vegetarian who forced such a diet onto a pet cat, which nearly died of starvation.)

Then again, I'm aware that certain dog foods are made with vegetables and cereals as well as meat, and I've encountered dogs that are fed by their owners with leftover vegetables without apparently suffering any side effects (indeed, the owners make claim that it is for the dog's better health) so perhaps Bruiser could be a vegetarian...

here is an article about this question

Quote:

Though meat eaters by nature, dogs seem to adapt to a plant diet reasonably well, the main challenge being to make the stuff palatable enough that they'll actually eat it.

Cats are another story. It's dangerous and probably futile to try to feed a cat a vegetarian diet. If denied meat at home cats likely will go hunting for mice and birds and whatnot. If unsuccessful, they may suffer serious health problems.

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde was pretty bad , I heard
Legally Blonde 3 is being made

Yes, the first Legally Blonde film was good, but Reese Witherspoon was also great as Tracy Flick in
"Election"

I heard Legally Blonde 3 is being made

Another sequel that no one wanted or asked for.

And why now? It's been twenty years since the last one.
