Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Thrillers/Horrors: Misery

In the opening sequence, Paul types the last page of his latest novel. On the very final line he types “without it, what else was there ..?”

He then takes the sheet of paper out of the typewriter and handwrites “THE END” at the bottom. However, the penultimate line of typing now has the words, “but, without it, what” and then, on the final line, it says, “else was there …?”

So not only have the lines moved, but there are a different number of dots after the final word! It’s such a clumsy nit that I almost suspect that it was done deliberately just for the benefit of nitpickers!

When Paul’s agent first calls Buster, the local sheriff, to report Paul as possibly missing, he says that he will do some investigating and then phone her back. However, he doesn’t take her phone number. His phone doesn’t look the sort to have Caller Display on it.

When Annie is shaving Paul (with a cutthroat razor no less - how convenient of her to have one) she says "All done." Yet she left a large portion of his neck on the left side untouched. Which is shaven once the shaving soap is wiped off.

In the novel, Annie talks about the Overlook Hotel, that burned down years before.

Of course, that's the hotel in The Shining.
