I remember seeing this film when it was first released in 1986, and I caught a bit of it on cable TV early this morning. Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster, in their last film together, play old time train robbers just released from a long prison stretch. Their inabilty to fit in with the pace of life in 1986 eventually leads them back to their old line of work. A pre-SNL Dana Carvey co-stars as their parole officer. Also stars Eli Wallach, Charles Durning, and Alexis Smith. Rated PG for adult themes, mild language and violence.
What a joy it is to see these two old pros, Douglas and Lancaster, work together. As old friends, they play off each other so well. I don't even think they were acting, just playing themselves. The pleasure of them working together is infectious, and I had as good a time at this pic as they did making it.
