Anybody remember this movie? Anybody want to talk about it?

Anyways, here's what it's about: After losing yet another job, George Newman ("Weird Al" Yankovic) is given a management position at a failing UHF station by his uncle. George tries to revive the station, but his attempts to create new programing only worsen the situation. Worse yet, he misses a birthday dinner date with his girlfriend Teri (Victoria Jackson) and she breaks up with him. Distraught, George tries to perform on a kids' show, but can't continue and puts janitor Stanley Spudowski (Michael Richards) on in his place. He goes to a bar to drown his sorrows and is surprised to discover that the kids' show is now a hit at the bar with Stanley hosting. George uses the newfound success to create more new (and rather offbeat) shows. Eventually, the station becomes the number one station in town and the president (Kevin MacCarthy) of the local network affiliate feels threatened. He takes steps to bring about the UHF station's demise. Does he succeed, or not?

This movie boasts a rare movie appearance by the brilliant Emo Philips, back in his page-boy haircut days, who plays the shop teacher who absent-mindedly cuts off his own thumb with a power saw.

"Oh, would you look at that. Just call me Mr. Butterfingers. Boy, is my face red."

And all the while, blood keeps spurting out. :)

Yeah, that's a funny scene. On the DVD commentary, they joke that he actually cut off his thumb.

Al:You know, we could've used prosthetics for that.
Emo:Prosthet..? I'm a methodone actor!
(or something like that)

There's a scene in the station where you can see a crewman hiding under a desk. It's after George and Bob come back from the bar and Fran Drescher gives them the messages.
