Dawn Of The Dead (2004)

There's a new Dead film coming out next March. From the trailer it looks like a new remake cuz it also takes place in a mall.

Criminy, can't anyone in Hollywood at least try to have an original idea? First "Night of the Living Dead" was remade, and now "Dawn". What's next, a "Day of the Dead" remake, too? I have the new version of it and George Romero said something about a new chapter in the series (it's been awhile so I don't remember completely what he said on it), so I was expecting a fourth flick, and maybe there'll still be one, I guess.

Actually, Universal is considering doing a remake of Day of the Dead if the new DOTD is successful. You can read more at the following site (which includes the trailer)

http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808473170&cf=info

Apparently, Ving Rhames stars in this updated version.

and the official movie site is:

George Romero does not have anything to do with this updated endeavor--although producer Richard Rubinstein does. As for George Romero, he has finished a script for a fourth installment, Dead Reckoning. However, he has not sold it to any studios as of yet. More news on this at the website:

However, at George Romero's official website, georgearomero.com, I could not find any news.

I just got back from Dawn on the Dead and I loved it. This is how you do a remake, take the origional idea and give it a modern twist. Love the ending. Also interestingly the movie ends as Romero's origional script for Day of the Dead begins.

SPOILER WARNING (highlight below)
Romero's origional script for Day took place on an island. The whe studio wouldn't give him the money he needed to make it so he scaled it down the the day we all know and love. You can download it if you want here. If the studio decides to do a remake of Day and they use Romero's origional script I will be there to see it.

Also after the success of the film perhaps someone will give Romero the funing he needs for <u>Dusk of the Dead</U> aka <u>Dead Ringers</u> something that he has been trying to do for years.

Why did the Dead ignore the dog?

Because in this version, zombies only eat humans, unlike Romero's movies where they can occasionally be seen eating a bug or a mouse.

And in this movie, you only ever see ONE zombie chow into a person--right at the beginning! All other zombie violence is off-screen. This is NOT how you make a zombie movie.

I still liked it, but man...

One thing that kind of drove me nuts about the remake... Nicole drives across to save the dog and possibly get Andy about the time he turns. Kenneth has Michael tell her over the walkie-talkies to get out of there. So what does Michael tell her to do? "Find someplace to hide."

If I watch someone I know go into a building where they're going to get attacked by zombies and the only guy who knows what to do tells me to tell them to get the heck out of there, I'm going to tell them to get the heck out of there.

I wonder if the upcoming TV series is based on this movie.
