Something's Gotta Give

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Comedy: Something's Gotta Give

I haven't seen this movie yet, but we had a couple of screenings for it yesterday, and managed to snag seven of the leftover presskits for it. Unlike the usual presskits that are consist of a letter-sized folder, these consist of a computer disk insidea a DVD case (but they're not DVD's; they're computer disks) with a couple of dozen high-resolution photos, one-sheet posters, captions, and other production info.

Inside the case is a 36-page booklet with a synopsis, behind the scenes production info, discussion of the casting of the actors, the background of the writer/director and producers, and full cast and crew list. The booklets have that new-book smell.

I have seven of them, so if anyone wants them (maybe you'll want them if you see this movie and like it), let me know. First seven to post here or email me gets them.

Btw, I still have 28 Tomb Raider 2 press folders left. Let me know if you're interested in them.

Marilyn Monroe's last, uncompleted film had a similar title to this one - Something's Got To Give. Her co-stars in this one were Dean Martin and Phil Silvers. The existing footage (about a half-hours' worth) was pieced together and shown on American Movie Classics last year.

Not to mention a VERY HOT skinny dip sequence by Monroe!

ANY man who says he would not want to make love to Marilyn Monroe is a LIAR! She was way too hot!

Men (that I know of) who DID make love to Marilyn Monroe:

Joe DiMaggio
Arthur Miller
President John F. Kennedy
Robert F. Kennedy
Frank Sinatra
(maybe) Peter Lawford

Something's Got To Give was eventually filmed as Move Over Darling with Doris Day.

There is no evidence that RFK had relations with MM. Also, is there substantial documentation of her with JFK, or is that just another urban myth/rumor/legend? And what about Sinatra?

Part of this is from an "E Online" column from 1997:

According to a book by J. Randy Taraborelli, Sinatra and Monroe began getting it on back in 1954. The singer and siren weren't having sex when they first moved in together. That changed when Ol' Blue Eyes came downstairs one day and saw the Some Like It Hot siren naked in the kitchen. Sinatra had on again, off again affairs with Monroe until her death in 1962, and was thinking of popping the question just prior to her death.

There is a lot of documentation about her involvement with JFK. Peter Lawford allegedly was the go-between. There are also allegations that JFK was going to pay Monroe for her silence. I admit that her involvement with RFK is a lot of innuendo and rumor.

Harry says he's going to stay on the beach and watch the sunset. Unfortunately, on the East Coast, the sun doesn't set over the water.

Something's Gotta Give has a game cast and a fine script, but it's just waaaaay too long. I get the picture after a while. Keanu Reeves' character is amusing but has plot convenience written all over him. Also, why do you cast Jon Favreau to have him deliver only three lines? Methinks this film was originally even longer.
