4 Pics of Halle Berry! You can see them here, here, here, and here.

Whoa. I suddenly find myself wishing I were a mouse. Or a bowl of milk....

By Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 12:51 pm:

Worst, Costume, Ever!

Honestly, this only turns me off. Of the movie I mean. I mean, fer cryin' out loud, she's a cat burglar! Her outift should not be so, so, so that!

By Brian Fitzgerald on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 8:24 pm:

I love it.

By Blue Berry on Thursday, January 22, 2004 - 3:10 am:

A skin tight catsuit made out of leather I could see, but jumping from roof top to roof top in those heels? What purpose the rips in the leggings? Her ideal is to never be seen, not distract her opponent with her breasts. (I admit that is a nice tactic.:))

By Zarm Rkeeg on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 1:06 pm:

So, is there a plot for this movie?
Does it include Batman (somehow, I doubt it...)

By Snick on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 2:24 pm:

Well, apparently there's a script outline released by the producers, but it just seems to be the words "Halle" and "Leather" repeated over and over for 50 pages.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 6:15 pm:

Not to mention "Whip" & "T&A"

By Brian Webber on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 9:00 pm:

Oh stop thinking like males and think like nerds for ten seconds will you? This movie is gonna $uck! You want proof that gratuitous skin doesn't make a movie good? I got three words for you; Eyes Wide Shut. I rest my case.

By Josh M on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 9:28 pm:

I think that I like Michelle's catsuit (don't think I intended that pun) more than Halle's.

By Snick on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 9:58 pm:

Webster, I know the movie is already gonna be lousy. That's why I mocked the producers' obvious pandering to libido rather than intelligence.

By John A. Lang on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 10:05 pm:

RE: Eyes Wide Shut...who cares about the movie when you can get a look at Nicole Kidman's hot body? Mama mia!

By R on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 10:32 pm:

Ok As to the plot no it looks like batman wont be in it as entertainment magazine said it wont be the same gotham based catwoman. As to the outfit definately not practical but definately hot. As to Nicole Kidman aside from being a bit too skinnny she is definately hot too. A guy could Happily drown in those eyes.

By Brian Webber on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 10:41 pm:

John Lang: It would be more worth it to go to one of those websites where youhave to have a credit card to get vidcaps of Nic in the nude then it would to sit through that ••••••• movie. Only the second time in my LIFE I've fallen asleep during a film*! Even those long and pretentious black and white French films I see on IFC don't bore me that much**!

*The other was when I was 4 and passed out during Nightmare on Elm Street (I happen to like that movie, I was just really young and really tired).

** (Sung to the tune of Allouette(sp?))
I like French films
Pretentious boring French films
I like French films
Two tickets cie vou ple(sp?)!

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I would imagine there would have to be some references to Batman in the film, since it might make it more sellable as part of a franchise.

Brian, gratuitious skin does not make a good movie, but you can have a good movie with gratuitous skin in it. Seven of Nine's catsuit on Voyager was clearly gratuitous, but she was the focus of many well-written episodes.

Catwoman will not blow simply because it has gratuitous skin. If it or any other movie sucks, it will be, IMO, because it doesn't offer anything else, like plot, theme, characterization, acting, originality, action, suspense, good directing, F/X, etc.

No, there were none. Although Bob Kane and DC Comics got a "Based On Characters" credit.
I watched this on HBO2 last night, as I was in the mood for something really dumb, and this movie supplied it in spades. But, it's movies like this, and the God-awful Mr. and Mrs. Smith that are the reason I don't go to the movies anymore. If Hollywood is pumping out that type of refuse, why should I waste ten bucks, and the time spent getting to and from the theater, and watching the film?

BTW, why is the director hiding behind an alias? ("Pitof" in this case.) Or, is that a stupid question, given the film?

Luigi Novi: What about movies that are good?

By Adam Bomb on Monday, October 02, 2006 - 12:00 pm:

With my financial situation now (alimony and child support) I have to think long and hard before I can spend almost twenty bucks (for myself and my girlfriend) on movie tickets. Plus, the theater that was a ten-minute drive from my home closed last year. I will see Marie Antoinette this month, though, as my girlfriend very much admires her. Also, she knows a lot about that period in French history, and if the MA movie turns out to be awful, I told her to bring cake so she could throw it at the screen.

Looks like I'll be the only one to actually comment on the movie, after all this time.
I thought they did a decent job, creating a new Catwoman that wasn't Selena, but could exist in almost any DC Universe. I'm sure it doesn't take place in Gotham City, probably New York, as usual.
The new Catcwoman is named Patience, and she starts out as a meek artist at an ad company who discovers a plot by a beauty cream company that's producing a cream that'll disfigure women's faces if they use too much of it. The company is run by Sharon Stone and her husband, so there are actually two villains to deal with. Patience 'dies', but is revivied by a special cat owned by a former 'catwoman', and little by little she gains the confidence of a cat, as well as superhuman powers of acrobatics, seeing in the dark. She confronts Stone, who, ironically, has used the cream on herself and cannot feel any pain. The fight is about 80 % Catchwoman kicking her a$$, which isn't too much fun to watch, but Catwoman's fight against others, including the thug that helped 'kill' her are pretty good. Obviously she wins in the end, as well as winning the heart of a cop played by Benjamin Bratt, who discovered her secret.
The special effects are perfect, giving Catwoman an agility on par of Spider-Man, which means she could have kicked serious butt compared to Batman or Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman, who wasn't half as agile.
Patience/Catwoman develops cat characteristics; agility, heightened senses, seeing ni the dark, an ability to land on her feet from great heights, fear of rain, insatiable hunger for seafood/sushi, and even sleeping on an elevated swing, so she really IS a Cat Woman.
She's guided by an older woman who knows she's been chosen as a new Catwoman, many of whom have existed for centuries. I liked the occasional crossing of the line into thievery, like the DC Catwoman, only to realize that she wants to be one the right side of the law.
I also think she did a good job of giving herself her own unique strut/body language, making her a different person from Patience. It's not Patience dressed up, it's a different persona, and one that becomes dominant as the movie progresses.
Yeah, I'd have preferred a different costume up top, as others have mentioned above, but I remember seeing a story on TV about Halle Berry's wanted to show some skin, and show her muscles moving, which would be hidden by a full-body catsuit.
On a scale of one to ten (because I'm easily entertained), I'm giving it a solid 7.
I saw it on TV, and checked out the DVD in the stores, which includes a different ending, so I might rent it some day for that and other special features.

By steve McKinnon (Steve) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 10:16 am:

Actually, now that I think of it, I'll give this movie a 6 instead of a 7. Compared to other superhero movies that I'd rate a 7, this one doesn't match them.
Still a decent movie, though.

Cecil Trachenburg of "The Agony Booth" has posted a video review of this flick, and explains just why he loves it, here.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, May 24, 2015 - 6:59 pm:

If only this movie was as exciting as Halle Berry's outfit....

If only....if only...

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Friday, May 21, 2021 - 5:40 am:

Halle Berry was a very good sport about this.

She even showed up to collect her Razzie award, something most actors avoid at all costs.
