This is, by far, my all time favorite film.

I can't recall any nits, can anyone else?

How could someone keep a wristwatch in their rectum for so long?

When deciding which one to rape first, Maynard and Zed decide on Marsellus. One of them asks if they should do it there and then, and the other says, "No, let's take him into Russell's old room." Who the hell is Russell, and how did it become their old room? And shouldn't they have put Butch in the same room so they'd be able to keep an eye on him?

So what was in the briefcase? Tarantino never had an answer for this, but one suggestion he has said he heard was that it was Marsellus' soul that he was buying back from the devil. Anyone else here have an idea?

One of the coolest bits of trivia that came out of this film is when MAD TV spoofed this film and Forrest Gump during their first season, in a skit called Gump Fiction. Gump was in the Vincent Vega role, and Bubba was in the Julius role, with the protruding lip, and jerry curl. What's funny is that Phil LaMarr played the guy in the back of Vincent and Julius' car who gets his brains blown out in the movie, and since he later joined the cast of MAD TV, he ended reprising the role in the skit!

By Benn on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 10:59 am:

The kid whose brains were blown out by Vince Vega was named Marvin.

Incidentally, the character of Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs was meant to be Vince's brother.

One long held urban legend about the film is that all clocks in the film are set to 4:22. This is absolutely untrue. I've checked. The only clocks set to that time are found in the stairways of Maynard's pawn shop.

"No, let's take him into Russell's old room." Who the hell is Russell, and how did it become their old room?

How's anything wrong with that statement? Apparently Russell is some guy who used to occupy that room.

So what was in the briefcase? Tarantino never had an answer for this, but one suggestion he has said he heard was that it was Marsellus' soul that he was buying back from the devil.

Actually he didn't say it. Some fan with too much time on his hands came up with that one. Origionally Tarantino was going to make it a case full of diamonds but he decided that it was too easy to make it priceless jewels. When he couldn't think of anything really cool to make it he decided to leave it a mystery and let the viewer decide.

Brian Fitgzerald: How's anything wrong with that statement? Apparently Russell is some guy who used to occupy that room.
Luigi Novi: I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. It's just a question.

Brian Fitgzerald: Actually he didn't say it.
Luigi Novi: I didn't say he did. I said it was "one suggestion he has said he heard."

By Brian Fitzgerald on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 - 8:48 pm:

oh I didn't see the heard part.

Why exactly is not explaining who Russell is a nit? It's not like it was an intricate part of the story. Sounds less important than the horseshoe in ST: Generations. Just a question?

By LUIGI NOVI on Thursday, January 29, 2004 - 9:39 pm:

I didn't SAY it was a nit! It's just a random, throway QUESTION! Sheesh. Monster Guy started the thread by saying, "any nits," so kinda as a lark, I decided to come up with some random thoughts about the film.

Move along. Nothing to see here. :)

Just a question?

Sorry, quoted for clarity. :(

If you have the Encore movie channel, and aren't in the mood for "24 Hours Of A Christmas Story" (which will be on TBS this year), Encore is showing Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill - Vols. 1 and 2 on Christmas Day, 2005. (I think that list just about covers Tarantino's career as a director, doesn't it?)

By LUIGI NOVI on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 - 9:14 pm:

You left out portions of Sin City and Four Rooms, as well as My Best Friend's Birthday, an episode of ER, two episodes of C.S.I., an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the two films he's doing that are currently in production, Grind House and Inglorious Bastards. :)

By Adam Bomb on Monday, December 26, 2005 - 8:53 am:

OK, Luigi.
By the way, did anyone here watch all of that? Me, I stayed with TNT's Law & Order marathon (13 episodes in 12 hours.) At least until the early evening, when I drove my dad to Newark Airport.
For all of Tarantino's critical acclaim, (or critical butt kissing) I just don't get it. Or him.

By ScottN on Monday, December 26, 2005 - 9:44 am:

Adam, if you watch all 24 hours of A Christmas Story, you'll put your eye out!!!

By Adam Bomb on Saturday, December 31, 2005 - 3:50 am:

I missed all of it this year, Scott. I had some other things to do (spend time with my girlfriend, drive my dad to the airport on Christmas) so A Christmas Story was low priority. I did watch as much Law & Order as I could fit in, however.

By ScottN on Saturday, December 31, 2005 - 1:19 pm:

I was joking, Adam. "You'll put your eye out!" is the classic line from the movie.

By Adam Bomb on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 - 10:19 am:

The co-writer of this film, Roger Avary, has been charged with DUI and vehicular manslaughter, in the matter of the death of a passenger in his car. More here.

By Adam Bomb (Abomb) on Saturday, June 02, 2012 - 5:56 pm:

This film is set in L.A. It shows the city pretty barren of traffic, especially in the scene where Vince is driving the O.D.'ed Mia to Lance's house. I was in L.A. twice, and traffic was never that light.
