Undoubtedly the most historically correct of the "Titanic" movies.

Only goof noted so far after many watchings is that one scene shows attempt to launch World War II type liferaft (Rubber rim / canvas web bottom) All life boats on the real Titanic were either all wood or in the case of the collapsibles, canvas sides.)

Actually from what I understand and have read Cameron's Titanic was very historically acurate and at least not as dry as this movie was, even if it was about a very wet subject.

R: Ugh. I hated Cameron's cr@p-fest. Historical accuracy does not a good movie make. Far as I'm concerned, this moive is the BEST moive about that subject ever made.

I think the whole point of the first post was about historically accurate Titanic films, and Cameron's was fairly accurate, if you completely ignore the main story and its characters. Does that make it a good movie? Not necessarily in and of itself, but if historical accuracy's the topic being debated, Cameron's is probably one of the top contenders, like it or not.
Back to ANtR, I haven't seen this film since I was a young kid, and even then, I'd missed most of it. I know it's one of the most critically acclaimed Titanic films, and set the bar for others. I'll add it to my ever growing list of films I have to get around to seeing.

Like CR said I was mentioning the historical accuracy for Cameron's film. He got quite a lot right, from the appearance of the ship to many of the probable or possible events as the ship went down (Captain Smith just wandering off the shootings and some panic as well as the locked gates between the classes) as for the movie itself I and my wife actually liked it due to the better feel of his film. I have seen this one and always felt it was a good movie but a bit stiff. It has a place in my collection as well as Cameron's

I remember once catching a Titanic movie on TV. I can't remember the title (and I don't feel like trying to hunt for it right now) and don't remember much about it overall, but I do know that it starred David Janssen and was probably one of his last roles before his untimely death. I don't think its one of the movies covered on this board.

S.O.S. Titanic? Was this the movie you was thinking of?

Yes, that would seem to be it. Thanks.
