A disapointing film. I was hoping it would reach the pop-level fun of the Mummy films. Unfortanly it didn't. Shame
Lots of nit, I'm just to tried to mention them right now. What do you guys say?
I enjoyed the film. I thought it was great. If you want a complex story, with alot of character development, then this is not for you. But if you want almost non-stop action and mind blowing special F/X, then definetely go see this one. One of the reasons I loved the original Mummy so much was the tongue in cheek humor, and this film has little of that, but I still enjoyed it very much.
Can someone work out what this film was trying to be?
One part was gothic horror, one part bond film (if Carl had said "pay attention" or something similar, he really would have been Q).
Kate Beckinsale goes from being a vampire, to hunting them
A decent pop-corn movie, but it won't win any awards.
I was really looking forward to this movie until I saw some of the reviews it has been getting, The Boston Globe gave it half a star. It's a real stinker according to them. I still want to see it though. The effects I've seen on tv look spectacular (the horse and carriage jumping over the cliff).
The reviews have been terrible. But don't let that stop you from seeing it. I thought it was great. The F/X were awesome! If you love lots of action and eye popping F/X, this is the film for you. I can't wait for the DVD to see how they made it.
Yeah, go see it. I recommend it, too.
One question. Anyone know if this film was originally given an "R" rating? It was pretty intense for PG-13.
Intense yes, but I don't remember any real gore. I don't remember any bloodshed, which is odd if you consider most horror movies these days. Which makes the movie all the better to me. The old classic horror movies didn't need buckets of blood.
The movie had some faults, but I found it entertaining.
Here's the first nit I noticed: When Anna is rescued from Dracula's clutches, she is wearing a very attractive low-cut gown. In the very next scene, she has her own clothes back (the exact same ones she was wearing before she was captured). How nice of Drac to save them for her!
None of the blood was red. See, as long as the blood isn't red, you can show as much as you want!
The Frankenstein monster seemed to be a little too much like Peter Boyle in Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein.
There is an editing glitch as Katie the Vampire Movie Actress fights the sexy Vamp Wife at the end. she's got the big-@ss syringe in her left hand and transfers it to her right hand in the wide shot. Then we cut to a MCU and it's back in her left hand again.
