I couldn't find a thread for this film anywhere I looked so I created this one.

I just finished watching it tonight on DVD and it is fantastic! Never saw it in the theater so I didn't know much about it going in, just that Albert Finney's in it and is dying and his son comes to visit him during his last moments, and that the father was a fanciful storyteller. The entire film, a Tim Burton production and definitely looking like it, is basically a story about a father and son who have been rather disconnected and in the father's final moments they finally do connect and thus have some closure. It was a very moving film for me, having lost my dad 7 years next February. I highly recommend it to anyone who's not seen it, and most especially to fathers and sons with troubled relationships with each other. If I could meet Burton I'd shake his hand and thank him profusely for such a tremendously fantastic film.
