Check out his Hellcycle! Now that is one hot! And yes, pun most definitely intended! It's one lean, mean street machine (and well off the streets, too).
Wow. I can't wait to see how Nick Cage looks as ol' flameface.
I can. I'd rather see someone else play Johnny Blaze since Cage looks nothing like the comic version by any stretch of the imagination, but who knows, he might do a decent job. Could've been worse, though: he could've still been playing Clark Kent/Superman. ;)
Is it going to be Johnny Blaze, and not Danny Ketch? And since when have either Blaze or Ketch's appearances ever been that central to the character, particularly given that GR has never been a widely-known character to the public?
I just figured Blaze since he was the original GR.
Well, gee, guys, if you'd bothered to check the Internet Movie Database, you'd know that Nick Cage will be playing the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider.
"I like to watch." - Chance the Gardener
Oh, and Mephisto's the villain. (But played by Peter Fonda...?)
"I like to watch." - Chauncy Gardner
Well, gee, Benn, that's what we've got you for! Glad to see you haven't disappointed us. ;)
Anyway, it'd be kinda interesting to have a Ghost Rider/Hulk film cuz then Sam Elliott could do double duty as both General Ross and the Caretaker!
Well, gee, Benn, that's what we've got you for!
Luigi Novi: Yeah. Now how are my stocks doing, Benn? Be a good boy and run along now to go check for me...
You went bankrupt, buddy. Too bad. I, on the other hand, made a killing. Thanks for providing the seed money. (Even if you didn't know you were providing it. )
Am I the only one who thinks it funny that Peter Fonda is playing the Devil in a motorcycle movie?
There's a short clip showing Nick as Ghost Rider at the official site
Yeah, it's a ten or eleven-second clip, but it shows you what ol' GR looks like.
New trailer, both US and International version.
I don't see a poster there.
It appears that the original source took it down.
But here's an even cooler one.
And a full-shot version of that one.
I caught a trailer for this flick when I went to The Grudge 2 last weekend. Although I'm not much of a Nick Cage fan, I'd check this out. The effects are impressive, and the bike is cool as Hell...
I know practically nothing about Ghost Rider but this movie seems a bit too comedic and light-hearted than I would expect a comic-book character who rides a burning motorcycle and who's skull is on fire to be. Anyboy in the know like to offer a quick back story?
Given that it's from the same director as Daredevil, I don't have high hopes for the film, and probably won't see it, since I don't see many movies these days, and missed a whole bunch that I wanted to see in recent months.
I don't know, I think the director's edition of DD was better than the theatrical version.
Getting back to GR, Nick Cage doesn't strike me as the best fit for this kind of action movie. I'm not saying he's too old to be in action movies, but I think he should portray himself as someone his age rather than trying to pass off as someone younger. for example, Sean Connery still does action, but he's not trying to pass himself off as someone 20 years younger.

That's not what your mother said, Trebek!
"I'll take 'the rapists' for twenty."
You don't see many movies anymore Luigi? I thought that was your job. I've missed several I wanted to see in recent months too. The last sentence of my previous post should start Anybody not Anyboy, but what exactly can GR do?
he can ride without having his gas tank explode...
My job is to recruit people for research screenings of movies yet to be released, and to staff those screenings. It sometimes occurs that I end up watching the film, usually only when I request it. The only time that my boss expects me to watch it is when they tell me that I'll be taking the focus group notes afterwards, as I did two days ago for Penelope, and in that case, the guy supervising that screening (there are two or three who do so) questioned whether watching the film really helped that. I and another coworker had to convince him that it helps knowing what the group is talking about if I do. And right now, our main client is the Weinstein Co., and some independents here and there. It's not like I see every film before it comes out. The last big picture that I saw that I really liked that eventually came out was Hannibal Rising, which I saw back in October.
Over the past few months, I've missed Stranger than Fiction, Fast Food Nation, The Illusionist, The Prestige, and I'm desperately hoping not to miss The Queen, but it isn't playing in a lot of theaters.
I was never really a Ghost Rider fan, but I have run across some of his adventures in my comics reading, of course. Basically, Ghost Rider is a demon. Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt driver, made a pact with the devil that resulted in him having a demonic alter-ego - the Ghost Rider. His bike is a supernatural manifestation and is thus able to do all sorts of impossible stunts like drive straight up the side of a building. GR's basic power is the ability to emits different types of fire, one is normal and the other is known as "hellfire". Hellfire affects the souls of its victims, causing them great anguish. That's a bare bones run down on who GR is. Hope that helps, BlackestNight.
Wikipedia should also have an article on him.
Here's a site that might be a bit more informative, InBlackestNight.
That site only has one entry for Ghost Rider. Wikipedia has one article for the Ghost Rider character, a separate one for Johnny Blaze, another for Danny Ketch, and another for Zarathos.
Well, he was asking about Ghost Rider, wasn't he? Not all the other characters.
Thanks guys. I will probably check both sites anyway but your "bare bones" description was sufficient Benn.
Ghost Rider is Ghost Rider.
Johnny Blaze was and now is again Ghost Rider.
Danny Ketch was Ghost Rider.
Zarathos was part of Ghost Rider.
Hence, they were all relevant enough to mention.
But not in answer to InBlackestNight's question: "... but what exactly can GR do?" The question was about GR's powers, not his background. Besides, I really doubt Danny Ketch or Zarathos will be mentioned in the movie. (Well, maybe Zarathos, but almost certainly not Ketch.)
But none of this is worth arguing over. You've had your chance to plug the wonders of Wikipedia, InBlackestNight has his question answered. It's all good.
Wow, talk about too much hype, very little craftmanship. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are top-notch and carry the movie along fluidly. However, that's all this movie has going for it. The dialogue, story, and menagerie of villains are so terribly weak. I mean, I'd expect the Devil's son to put up a better fight than he did in the movie. Heck, even the 6-year-old Damien can kick better butt!
#1 pointless scene in the movie: Nic Cage walking out of the shower just to look at his sculptured body in the mirror. Okay, Nic, we get it, you worked out and have a six pack. Good for you, but what does this scene have to do with the movie?
you can see a 6 pack! did Cage shave his chest or something?
I liked this movie very much, and felt Nicholas Cage was perfect in the role of Johnny Blaze. Certainly a much, much better fit than if he'd been cast as Clark Kent/Superman, as the rumor went, years ago.
There was enough humor in the story, too, which didn't detract from the serious parts, or ridicule the characters in any way. That was one thing I disliked about Ang Lee's 'Hulk', which had zero funny parts, just to break up the tension.
What sold me on going to see this movie was the trailer clips of Ghost Rider driving up the side of a building, jumping off a building, and whipping out his chains to help break his fall. I'd never read Ghost Rider in the comics, other than his guest-starring bits in other series, so I didn't go into the movie with preconceived notions or hopes of keeping things a certain way, because I wasn't totally familiar with the character or supporting characters. I don't even know if Roxanne is from the comic books, or a creation of Hollywood, but I think that helps the film for new viewers, like me, who can just sit back and enjoy the show.
D. Stuart, the 'pointless scene' was (besides, maybe as you said, for Nicholas Cage to show off his 6 pack), was also to show Johnny trying to see if the Ghost Rider was going to 'pop back', to see if he could make it reappear, because I think the mirror scene happens after the first appearance of the Rider. It also fits in with the sometimes goofy attitude of Blaze.
Young Johnny Blaze doesn't look too much like Nicholas Cage, but young Roxanne is perfect as a young Eva Mendes, who is gorgeous throughout the movie (another reason I went!).
I watched 'Superman Returns' later on the same day, and was surprised how little happens in S.R. in the same time span as G.R., but I'm not going to slam S.R. I like it just the way it is, too.
I'd even watch Ghost Rider again, before it comes to DVD, which tells me how much I enjoyed it.
