This is director Kirby Dick's investigation into the Motion Picture Association of America, who its members are, the criteria by which they dole out their ratins to movies, etc. It includes not only footage of the private investigators they hired to identify and follow MPAA members around, but also interviews with and anecdotes about Kevin Smith, John Waters, Pedro Almodovar, Maria Bello, etc.
We screened this movie back in April, but I wasn't able to attend the screening, though I heard it was good.
I just discovered a trailer for it here.
It comes out September 1st. I can't wait!
I saw this film a month or two ago. It was really good. We find out who the members of the MPAA are, that they don't fit the criteria you'd think would be required to judge films for parental consent, and we see Kirby Dick's dalliances with the MPAA as he tries to get this film rated.
What's also interesting (and which I had not know or considered) was how the film alleges that the MPAA is harsher with material concerning female sexual pleasure compared to male pleasure.
I highly recommend this film.
