The Buddy Holly Story, starring Gary Busey, is well known for its many inaccuracies, including the instruments used. Holly is shown in some scenes playing a Fender Telecaster, a guitar he didn't use, and a '70s version at that if I remember correctly. In another scene he's shown playing a Fender Bronco, a guitar that wouldn't go into production until years after Holly died. The guitar Holly was known for playing was a sunburst Fender Stratocaster. Much of his recorded work was done with a '56 model that was eventually stolen.

Gary Busey was way too old to play Buddy, too.
