Go

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Comedy: Go

This is something that bothers every time I watch the movie Go. At the beginning of the movie we learn that Ronna is some $300 behind on rent and will be evicted the next. A co-worker at the supermarket she works at, Simon, offers her his shift. (Simon wants to go to Vegas, so he's really asking her to work his shift.) Ronna turns to listen to the proposition as if it will help her financial situation. It won't if the supermarket is typical of the places I've worked at. Ronna won't be receiving the pay for working Simon's shift until the following week. By the time Ronna gets paid, she'll be homeless.

Just for the record, after Ronna agrees to take the shift, Simon pays her up front.
