The Cable Guy
Chip Douglas, the title character (played by Jim Carrey, who broke the mold by earning the first $20 million payday for this so-so flick) tells his new buddy (Matthew Broderick) that Sleepless In Seattle is on HBO tonight. Sleepless was never run on HBO. Castle Rock, the producers of Sleepless, was in the middle of a long-term deal with Showtime, which ran the pic exclusively. Now, AOL Time Warner owns both HBO and Castle Rock, so Sleepless could someday run on HBO. Not back when Cable Guy was made, however.
Basically this film is about being stalked.
Hardly a funny subject, IMO.
