Mrs. Doubtfire

I saw this film on HBO when it first ran there in 1994, and caught it again recently on ABC Family. You all know the plot, so I'll skip the refresher. To insure that he'll get the nanny job, Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) changes the phone number on the classified ad to an incorrect one. And, his ex-wife Miranda (Sally Field) apparently didn't bother to get a copy of the paper to check the ad's accuracy. Come on, she's a workaholic businesswoman, who should have known better. I mean, if you run an ad in the paper, wouldn't you read it once it's published, to make sure the contact information is correct?

Also, since I've been divorced since I last saw this, I view it a bit differently. I thought the judge was quite harsh on Daniel, who obviously loved his kids, and too easy on his ex, who seemed to be more concerned with her next business deal than with her kids.

Both the Fox Movie Channel and the Starz/Encore channels run a dubbed print of this pic. In their version, when Daniel is first disguised as Mrs. Doubtfire and confronts his kids, he says "Don't fuss with me." In the original version, well, you can guess what Daniel says to the kids.

Williams looks like he gained a bit of weight here; maybe it was required for the role, as he had to look "matronly."
In the beginning of the movie, Williams' Daniel, whose profession is a voice-over artist, is seen dubbing his voice to a cartoon with characters similar to Sylvester and Tweety Bird. Unless he was dubbing a cartoon originally done in another language, isn't the voice work done on most cartoons before work begins on the animation? I'm almost positive The Simpsons is done that way.

"Don't fuss with me."

Wow. That's something I'll have to tell Mister Falcon :-)
