Over the Edge

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Movies: Drama: Over the Edge
By Benn on Sunday, May 18, 2003 - 6:10 pm:

Yesterday, I saw this 1979 cult film, Over the Edge. In it, the children of a planned community (they were all the rage in the 70s) rebel against their parents. In the film's climatic moments, the parents are attending a school meeting and are locked into the school by the kids. The kids, while involved in various acts of vandalism, liberate some of the guns of the police officers. The kids use the guns to shoot some of the cars. Those cars explode quite spectacularly. I kept wondering, "What kind of bullets are they putting into those guns? What kind of volatile material do they keep in those cars?"

Later a police car crashed into the local rec hall. The whole building explodes. What were they storing in that rec building?

Gasoline, maybe?
I've never seen Over The Edge. My friend Marc says that his friend Michael Kramer was the star, and was hoping for big roles from it. Instead, Matt Dillon was the breakout star from that pic, and Michael Kramer's movie career went nowhere.
