An Officer And A Gentleman

Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) and the other recruits are joining the Air Force. However, they are being trained by Sgt. Foley (Louis Gossett Jr.), a Marine Drill Instructor. Would this situation occur in real life? Doesn't the Air Force have its own D.I.'s?

Umm, he's joining the Navy. And yes, they do use Marines for Navy officer training.
