AEON FLUX (2005)

I've seen pictures of Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux and I am VERY disappointed.

WHERE'S THE SKIMPY OUTFIT?

By John A. Lang on Monday, December 19, 2005 - 7:51 am:

Well..."Aeon Flux" (2005) bombed.

WHY?

Bad acting

Bad writing

Bad directing

and most importantly...the REAL resaon the movie bombed was...

NO SKIMPY OUTFIT!

And this surprises you? Sadly cartoon &/or comic adaptations that have good acting, writing, directing tend to be the exception.

Heck the fact that the comercials kept calling the setting a "totalitarian utopia" had me questioning the writing right there.

As for the skimpy outfit there was an interview with Charlize where she addressed that. Forget the exact wording, but basically cartoon characters can wear clothes that real humans can't because the artist can keep it where it's supposed to stay. If Charlize had tried to wear it the movie would have a rating of R to NC-17. (Not that some viewers would have a problem with this.)

If anyone's interested, Aeon Flux comes to Showtime August 13.

When I wrote the above I had never seen the cartoon series. I have since & discovered that it was an example of style over substance. With the exception of Gravity the episodes were basically BILC sequences without a consistent story. So in that sense the movie at least pwns the cartoon by actually having a story. Not a good story, but at least they tried.

I tried to watch this pic on Showtime, but it lost me after ten or so minutes.
