Oh. My. God. This looks funny.
And this is coming form someone who doesn't generally like Sandler.
And it even has Jessica Biel half naked too!
This was...sort of funny. I guess. There's sort of an odd feeling about a film that makes hay with gay jokes and stereotypes, but then tries to do a big message about tolerance at the end. The jokes are highly variable and not enough is done with the concept as a good character comedy or farce instead of the silly hijinx that actually entails.
There are a few oddities. Jessica Biel's character doesn't behave realistically at all, she's much too forgiving of Sandler's character, and her character makes a lot more sense to end up with Kevin James, not Sandler.
The supporting cast is a little clumsy too. Steve Buscemi plays the "bad guy" as a cartoon, while Dan Aykroyd is a cartoonish authority figure. Rob Schneider, for me, is the cinematic equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. Ving Rhames is a walking gay joke that is funny for two seconds.
The film has quite a few cameoes, although it isn't as stuffed as Anger Management--David Spade's is rather disturbing, I must say.
Dave Matthews as a swishy clothing boutique employee was pretty funny, I thought, even though he didn't have any actual dialogue!
Rock on DMB!
